Hi all
yesterday I went to my local Jeep dealer in UK to have a look at a 4 door Rubicon. in short I thought it was great.
Couple of things that I wanted to check.
If I take the plunge I will be opting for the 2.0 petrol. Unfortunately the v6 isn’t available here. This car I would be investing in as a keeper. A project car, hobby and daily. For these reasons and the fact that the UK is actively pushing diesels out as quickly as they can I am leaning toward the petrol.
I believe this is a newly developed engine. Are there a few high mileage examples out there now that have been through real world paces? How is this engine fairing up in reliability terms?
secondly I see the panels have gone from steel to aluminium. Given how utilitarian these vehicles are supposed to be how are people finding the aluminium panels? Are they easily dented/bent? I know from sports cars I have had that you only have to lean on them or slightly bang them when cleaning and you can leave unwanted panel dings. Hope the Wrangler is made from tougher grade Aluminium than those.
Is there yet any easy solution to install the steel bumper in the UK with the parking sensors? Although I find the Uk bumper acceptable it just doesn’t look as good as the US steel version.
Rubicon comes with the rock rails. Are there any side steps that fit without removing or drilling the stock rock rails?
The alloy wheels look diamond cut. Again fir a hard wearing utilitarian off road vehicle are people not finding that these chip and start spidering with corrosion quickly or are Jeep using super tough lacquer?
How are the under side components fairing to winters? Is it recommended to wax oil as soon as getting the vehicle as a preventative measure?
I will be doing a lot of searching through this forum so I. Meantime any help appreciated.
thanks in advance.
