try running a battery tender on main battery before updating. if the battery drops low it will cancel the update and revert back. seen this with many of the newer cars info centers
Update can be done with Jeep running. That’s the safest bet. Second safest is to update with a charger connected to the battery the whole time. (Charger that puts out >= 10a, not a 1-2a tender.)

I was getting the "Device Not Supported" frequently for the past several months. The only thing that I know that updated was my iPhone 12 Pro Max to iOS 17.2. The error was happening so frequently that using CarPlay got to the point of not being useable. I decided to buy a new cord USB-A to Lightning port and that seemed to make the error go away. It's been a month now and I haven't had the error come up again. YMMV.
This error is not phone-related. This error happens without phones present, and even with all linked phones deleted from Uconnect. It is a software bug.

I did both of my attempts with vehicle running. During that time, I got 0 MPG.... :)

I only get the device not supported message when plugging in my phone for CarPlay. A lot of times i need to plug/unplug multiple times to get it to work, other times it works on the first try but any bump on the road or taking a turn where the phone slightly moves will make it lose connection and get the device not supported message again. It’s really weird and frustrating.

Had this in my wife’s GMC. The fix was to clean out the lightning port in the phone with a toothpick. Amazing how much lint can accumulate deep in there! Second part of fix was to replace cable with an expensive one. It’s never happened again.

Had to go to Verizon and while there had my phone cleaned and didn’t help ?

will have to try the better cable next.

Yeah, the USB ports on the Wrangler are stupid picky. I'm betting yours doesn't like your cable and thadius65's ain't liking the larger storage capacity of his flash drives.

I agree. I’ve found best success using the USB-C port. My update went fine using that even with a 128GB drive. This one, specifically:

SanDisk 128GB Ultra Dual Drive Go... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07YYJRXQR

For the previous update I’d used an old 8GB USB-A type with success.

The cables are for sure important. When all else fails, Apple branded ones should be the go to. (But they do wear out! First thing I do when trouble starts if grab a new one from the pile in my junk drawer.)

Final Update: I unmarried Tazer JL and reinstalled SGW cables. Put the JL through several sleep cycles to make sure all was back to stock, then proceeded with 8g USB to upgrade Uconnect to 40.1, but as previously, 19% reached, then it aborts and reverts to previous version. Next stop is a dealer trip for warranty/recall items.

Tazer shouldn't matter. There's something else going on as you're the only person, so far, who has been unsuccessful in installing this update.

how do you get the update screen to come up? I only get it randomly but want to try the update when i can leave the Jeep running?

I totally agree, but I am struggling to find what else would be causing the issue.
