uconnect expiring?

I've been getting a message when I start my Wrangler that my uconnect will be expiring and to call some number? Do we have to pay for uconnect after a year?? I never have before. I just want to know what will be happening when I call. I don't want to pay for this crap

You have to pay for the XM and Uconnect app features like open door, remote start using the app etc.

Like you said it's crap, I don't think there is any value in the expensive subscription.

I don't care about the app. I've never used it. I don't remote start since I have a manual. As far as XM goes, I just use it for music, and I pay SiriusXM so it will still work, right? I use my phone for navigation, and the carplay will still work, correct?
@BXFXJeep You're in Canada. Is it any different for US vehicles?

Yes, CarPlay will work and your XM subscription will work.

XM is a separate subscription from the Uconnect remote features, the Uconnect subscription is for remote features like unlock, start etc.

It's the same in Canada, except our WiFI plans are a lot more expensive, WiFi is another separate subscription.

I renewed mine for my GC and Wrangler since I actually use it now and then. I never got it for our Wagoneer because my wife said she'd never use it. I probably will not renew it again. It is kind of neat to see all the things it monitors and have the ability to unlock and start from further than the key fob will work, but I do not use it enough to justify the cost.

Related: My GC says my Wave subscription is expiring, but the console and website both say I have to call the dealer to renew. It has expired now, never got around to calling the dealer. Our dealer is decent so I will probably get a quote. Last time I asked, the cost was pricey compared to DIY but cheaper than the local oil change place, and I like that they check more things and perform any updates during the process than "generic" shops.

I'm on my 4th Wrangler and this is the first time I've heard of uconnect expiring. I had them each 3 years. Is this a new thing? My last one was a '19JLUR, nothing different than my '23

My first Wrangler, a 2023, but all the previous Jeeps (couple of GCs, Wagoneer) there was a 6 mo to 3-year free ride then you had to pay to continue. They may be shortening it; my old GC got two years, my new Wrangler just six months (I think).

I'm just going to keep the change then. It seems useless. I'd rather waste the $20 on other things

For what feature that you'd consider useful? Maybe remote start is useful for some people in cold climates without a garage?
