Outside of the Nav what are the differences between these two systems?

The 8.4 includes the Alpine sound system, XM and its various features such as weather, movies, etc. and controls the climate control and other systems. I have it on my Sahara and have been very impressed.

Climate control is in the 7" as well as XM. HD radio and all data based connections (weather, movies, etc.) are not.

When you say movies what do you mean? Like streaming a video from your phone to the uconnect?

If you don't need the NAV etc the 7" will do fine. You can use apple car play or Android with it which allows you to use native apps. You can stream XM through your phone as well.

In IOS 12 this year they will be adding the ability to use Waze as well as Google maps in addition to the Apple stuff.

I'm not sure but I'm not sure that you can do that on the bigger screen. I will try on the 8" when I get out of work and see.

The 8.4 can be used as a cellular hotspot (att is the provider).

Pretty certain it means Movie showtimes, etc.

I can’t stream YouTube video on the 8”. I do get the audio but no video

I do not have the 8.4" so I am not sure what the post above me was referring to when it mentioned movies, I just copied what they wrote.

Ahhh Movies refers to Travellink

Travelink does Weather, has a live radar MAP, gas prices and movie times/places.. it doesn't mean streaming movies
