Turning off phone text msg announcements?

I have the 7" U-Connect in my Sport S and I have bluetooth paired to my phone. Not using Apple CarPlay although I can. This may be a dumb question, but how the heck do you turn off the announcement (voice) telling me I received a new text message from ###-###-#### ??? I can't find anything in settings. I did find voice brief/detailed, but I think that is just for the voice commands... So how do I turn off the verbal notification when I get new text msgs?

I found some info (link below), but it doesn't seem to work with the new JL/U-Connect 7" it seems. It just says it didn't recognize that command. I've got an iPhone with Siri so maybe that is overriding the voice cmds some how?

I hear you man, this shit is annoying. The only solution I've found setting Uconnect phone to DND.

Not necessarily helpful, but I have an iOS phone, paired via Bluetooth to a Uconnect 8.4 and I get no notifications.

For me and my iPhone X when I first connected the phone via Bluetooth if you go to settings>Bluetooth>Uconnect and then click on the circled i and then uncheck “ show notifications” this will prevent text messages from popping up on your uconncect screen

I don't mind the visual notification but the loud ass, "NEW TEXT MESSAGE FROM XXXXXXXXXX" sucks. All I "NEW TEXT MESSAGE FROM XXXXXXXXXX" want to do is drive to "NEW TEXT MESSAGE FROM XXXXXXXXXX" Lowe's and pickup "NEW TEXT MESSAGE FROM XXXXXXXXXX" some supplies "NEW TEXT MESSAGE FROM XXXXXXXXXX" but still take a call if needed.

How the hell this got through testing is beyond me.

I completely agree! I like my music loud and I hate being interrupted by a loud notification that I have a text! Have you asked @JeepCares about this? Maybe there is a solution or they're working on one.

Someone already mentioned it -- you go into your phone's settings > Bluetooth > UConnect > Info/Details > Disable "Show notifications" or something along those lines. I have an iPhone but Android might be different..

To me this doesn't solve the problem. I want to have my text on screen. I just don't want it saying the text message thing. I'd love to replace it with a quiet beep. This solution just removes texts coming to your car altogether. You're losing a key function!

To do what you want the code peogramming would have to be rewritten for the phone or Uconnect system or even both

I've been using CarPlay since, and I love it's behavior, and you will too. It shows a small message on the screen. You can press RADIO and it goes away, or you can press on the msg and it will play the audio of it. It's better than nothing, and it doesn't speak it unless you want it to.
