Does anyone know If there is a way to transport a soft top with the hard top on with the back seat up? We just ordered a JL with the dual top group and planned on bringing the kids to pick it up not realizing that to shipping box took up the entire cargo area. I know the soft top won’t fit installed under the hard top but is there enough room to squeeze it between the rear roll cage and hard top rear window uninstalled?

It won't fit. I purchased a 2019 JL with the hardtop on and a premium soft top was loaded in the back. Takes up almost the entire distance from the back on the front seats to the tailgate.

Here is a picture. Does anyone know if you can remove (lift) the hard top, lay the soft top here (looses/uninstalled) and reinstall the hard top.

If it will not......
Here is an idea. First off..... how far is the dealership from home?

if not to far of a drive, ask the salesman if you could leave the soft top with them for pick up later.

take the kiddos. Go home, then go back.

When I bought my JK with duel tops it was pretty cool how they had them both packaged together with seats up. I had a Top Lift Pro all ready but couldn’t use it the first time because the soft top was in the way. I had to have a neighbor help me remove the hard top.
When I traded in the JK I wanted to duplicate the feat but it just didn’t fit so I had to fold down the rear seats, remove and lay the soft top in and install the hard top.

If they are willing to hold onto the soft top. See if they can do the initial install for free.
leave soft there and drive the kids home. Then schedule another day to pull the hard top off at home and drive to the dealership topless. Shouldn’t take them too long to install.

Nashville to Chicago so multiple trips isn’t an option.
Another option is one of those hitch baskets or rent a small open trailer for a few bucks and tie the soft top down.

I looked in to that. It would have to be freight due to the size and there for not cheap. Roof rack might be my best option.
I just shipped a mounted set of Ram 22s at 85 lbs a piece UPS ground from CLt to Chicago of $60 each using a business account. May not be that bad if the dealer will ship for you using their parts account.

I'm not sure how they come when ordered from the factory, but I just had one sent to the dealer last week. Here is a picture of the box it came in:

It's about 3' x 5' and actually came strapped to a pallet. I had to remove the box from the pallet for it to fit in my wife's SUV. There is a lot of empty space in this giant box, so maybe you can remove the smaller boxes from the big box and get it all to fit "tetris" style?

Many moons ago I bought a new TJ Sahara with dual tops and the mounted soft top fit (folded) inside the mounted hard top. I’d check to see if that’s an option. If so make the dealer install prior to your arrival

I think you may possibly be able to remove top components from the box and as one poster said just stack the pieces rails and such behind the back seat and then keeping the cover on the soft top(it comes in a temporary vinyl cover wrapped around the top keeping it secure) you could try to guide the legs of the soft top mechanism through each outer side of each roll bar. This way the soft top is still rolled up and can sit in the back the way it usually does, Jut not connected at the roll bars on each side. The one thing you may need to do is unbolt the hard top bolts in order to lift the top to scooch it into that location. The location being sitting in back of seats..... the legs of it outside of each roll bar resting on the ledge of the interior of hardtop.
