Whats in this box? Smelled hot and a humming noise from this area. Sound ran with engine and ignition on or off. I could tap on side of Jeep next to this and it would stop humming.

Looks to be the transfercase control module as mentioned in your title. The other block behind it is the passive entry antenna.

Thought our TC was manual? (Why is it so hard to pull when new??). Anyone knows what this actually controls? Or is it more like a reaction module, like I'm in 4hi, so I need the rest of the jeep to do this, this, and this?
