Dear friends,

Wolfbox needs your help please! We are looking for some informative input or generic demand from you guys regarding cameras. To get you started, here are some questions:
  • When you are towing a trailer, what do you want to monitor and why?
  • How do you like to mount cameras?
  • What do you concern the most when mounting the cam?
Any other information is appreciated! Thank you in advance!

When you are towing a trailer, what do you want to monitor and why?
I will add more after work.
-Visibility of entire load
-Load security
-How the trailer is tracking behind my Jeep
-When hooking up, my approach to the trailer

((Oops, gotta get to work: Will finish when I get home))

I am showing this pic to help show my normal inability to see out the rear window when going wheeling/camping. These hard cases are the backbone of what we take but then we add on top and the sides so our visibility out the back is virtually nil.

I have pulled a trailer for about 12 years.

It has been on multiple cross-country trips (moving to Iowa) and hauled a lot of wood for heating.

But for this new trailer, I will be overlanding and doing some wheeling with it.

What is of the utmost importance to me now will be:
-Field of view
-Watching how it tracks behind me as I am on/going through obstacles
-Watching behind me to make sure that it is not swaying side-to-side on the highway (I don't expect that with this small of a trailer)
-Assisting in backing up- when hooking up to the Jeep or backing into a camping spot/parking spot

This is the 1st vehicle I have had which has a back-up cam. It is invaluable to me.

  • How do you like to mount cameras?
I am very flexible when it comes to mounting cameras. I tend to mount them on a "semi-permanent" basis and experiment for a while with the positioning before I decide on a permanent spot. Then I will adapt the camera to said space IF it doesn't come with the proper hardware to do so.

  • What do you concern the most when mounting the cam?
For me, I would say flexibility!!! I like to have options on where and how I can mount it. But like I said before, I will fab something if I need to.

GOOD LUCK on your research!

  • When you are towing a trailer, what do you want to monitor and why? Load monitoring for open trailer, tracking, hookup, and of course rear view (traffic behind the trailer)
  • How do you like to mount cameras? OEM if I can.
  • What do you concern the most when mounting the cam? front cam issues with Jeeps that have Forward collision box. Visor, keep having to move the camera to bring visor down.
