I’m headed on a two week road trip from 7/4-7/18. We are starting in SoCal and going up through Grand Teton, Yellowstone, and Redwoods national parks. The fourth stop was supposed to be Lassen volcanic national park, but our campsite reservations got cancelled at the last minute due to newly scheduled construction. So now I’m scrambling to find somewhere to camp from Thursday 7/15 through Saturday 7/17.
Tackling an easy trail and camping on the trail would be a cool experience (first time jeep owner). My wife and I are experienced backpackers (so gear and comfort on the trail won’t be an issue), but are complete newbies when it comes to off-roading so I’d look to avoid anything beyond beginner level. Does anyone have any suggestions on a beginner trail in NorCal that we can wheel and camp on for those two nights? Somewhere near a lake would be cool too.
