Dealers are on fixed incomes. Their looking to squeeze as much as they can out of you. If they had inventory they would have been making crazy money.

If you really want to sell it then take it before it gets worse
Then again.... a '22 ???
Why again are we selling a Jeep less than a year old ?

You're forgetting the $7,500 tax credit. Even at sticker you would have "paid" $53,500 for it. The new buyer isn't going to get another $7,500 so $45-50K, trade, doesn't seem to far off to me. Carvana still has to flip it make money on it.

I can buy a new Sahara 4XE today for about that same price, so why would I pay close to that for your used one?
I wonder if the valve for a used 4xe will actually go up next year once you can no longer get the tax credit, but yeah it definitely effects the resale value now.

It really worked out nice for me because I'm also getting my new 2023 Wrangler for 1% below dealer invoice with FCA Affiliate pricing by being a member of Tread Lightly. It's almost a straight trade. I'll have like $139 to pay in taxes at my local DMV.
You can get up to 5% under invoice with Mike Clinnin at Mall of GA. There’s a 2023 Black Rubicon 4xe on the lot if you want it. $64k sticker payoff about $54k

Jeeps and especially wranglers have great resale value. Hybrids and 4Xe Not so much. What’s the resale value on a used iPhone? That’s where these hybrid things are headed. Disposable. Electronics technology gets outdated very quickly. Nobody wants used electronics generally.
$400 for 3 year old iPhone that cost me $1100. That's not bad :)

When I traded in my truck for the Jeep, they tried to lowball me. It was a $62K truck and they offered me $48K. Had 8K miles on it. Needless to say I told them what they could do with their offer. Later on another salesman called me up and I wound up with $57K for my truck.

My brother in law traded his ‘21 4xe a few weeks ago. He paid $64k out the door in Sept ‘21 and got $62.5k for it. YMMV, but hybrids in many areas hold their value above traditional ICE models.

Nothing is going to make much sense in this market for another year probably. Best thing you can do is hold on to what you have for right now and don’t ever look at your 401k ?
Dang it you made me look.

Absolutely. The dealer I bought my loaded 2021 Willys Gladiator from is only offering me $37k. So it lost $13k in a year and a half. Also ran it though a few of the car buying sites. One came back with $28k.

The market is correcting itself quickly. Nothing is moving on the forum for sale pages, Craigslist, or FB marketplace.

interest rates are up and many folks are selling, not buying.

Yep. The bubble is starting to burst already. I think it will be totally popped by next Summer!

I traded my 2018 JLUR in March of 22 for basically a newer version of the same vehicle( with a few more options) , they gave me 50K which is what I had originally paid 3 years earlier.

I love My jeep, but had one regret. I had wished I had got the xtreme recon package.
I realize I could add on a lift and tires ect. ,but in the end it would cost me far more than the 4K for the Recon package.

Needless to say I ordered a 23 with the Recon Pack.
Yes, times have changed regarding trade ins.
I got 58.5 K for my 22, I paid 61 K
It will be a year old by the time my new jeep arrives.
Definitely less than I would have liked, But more realistic.
Honestly this trend couldn't continue forever.
I believe it was a fair trade, any other non jeep vehicle would have depreciated fair more.
Also, I'm still riding the wave of my 2018 trade in.?‍♂

Jeep also once again raised prices, Luckily I'm locked in. Instant equity thanks jeep.:like:
