So looking at the service manual, the 'transmission heater' is a heat exchanger that uses coolant to cool it. And then separately there is the trans oil cooler at the front. @Jeep Junkie I just confirmed my 22 has this, it's tucked in there exactly where this diagram shows. It is not 'built in to the radiator.' Mine did not come with tow package.

Did I understand properly, the blue circuit is actually engine coolant to warm the transmission ?

Yes, I believe that would be correct. Item #4 would be a heat exchanger. In theory it uses engine coolant to help get the transmission up to operating temperature faster. It would also help cool the transmission oil, once it's hot.
Automatic transmissions have an optimal temperature range. They aren't meant to run at temps between 175 and 220 degrees, give or take. That's why the heat exchanger helps heat up the trans oil.

Interesting, if something that is taking forever to heat up on my JL is the transmission. I suspect there is a on / off switch on that warmer because once it hit 194F it rarely go higher even if my coolant hit 230F transmission remain in the 19xF.

Late to the party, but I just got done towing a 7x12 enclosed trailer from PA to TN, via WV and VA. I used my 2021 Wrangler Rubicon with 3.6L eTorque engine. My trailer weight with cargo was ~ 2500#. My trailer is tall, I can stand up inside without having to duck, so there's a lot of sail area above the roof of my Jeep.

My transmission temperature was typically 217F, and didn't seem to change too much. What got my attention was the oil temp. On one climb in WV, the oil temp hit 245F. On the long downhill it cooled more than 30 degrees. Coolant temperature was usually no more than 230F.

I have the manual 6-speed, so no real transmission temp issues, but on a couple occasions Off-Road Pages displayed a fifth temperature gauge for Transmission Temp. It was always reading ---.

I installed an external oil cooler to help with oil temps while towing in the Arizona summer. There are obvious cut-outs in the vertical rubber for an external transmission cooler on the drivers side of the radiator.
