They're still going strong I think, I'm in southern california on business this week and on Wednesday evening I saw six battered and beaten old Toyota trucks, two each being flat towed by one roughly identical Toyota truck, southbound on I-5. At least they were in the right lane at well under the speed limit, but I've never understood why the CHP allows what appears to be a completely unsafe combination to be towed on their highways. Is it some sort of immunity since they are (probably) headed for south of the border? I've seen the same combinations in Colorado southbound on I-25.As for the convoys of vehicles heading to Mexico? They would all come through San Antonio pulling up to 3 at time with makeshift tow bars on POS rusted out and wrecked cars from up north. The Mexican govt put a stop to most of it and the convoys have really diminished. They don't take anything back now unless it's worthwhile to do so. In the past, they would strip the POS cars of any good parts and them leave what was left on the side of the road for the authorities tow away.
