I was just thinking about the tire size compensation this weekend, if you could modify it to get a higher max speed, so you just answered my question. I'm curious how "small" you can set the tires to increase the top speed? A shop next door has an interface that can do this without going to the dealership...any insight to settings?

John
I use the JScan app and it lets me set down to 28”.

No, changing tire size will not do anything else in a 392. The ZF8 will adjust over time. But if you just change at the track nothing else will be effected for a couple runs. then change back to go home.

@forcefedjunkie did you brake torque launch, that will shave a tenth or so off…
Yes I did

With the Aeroforce gauge I set tire size to 29" and this dropped the speed reading by about 10% so in theory I could hit about 110 true speed before the speedometer would read 100 and hit the limit. I don't know exactly how small of a size I can be allowed to enter.

Use tire revs per mile for accurate number. My current 32.8” tires at 99 mph = 104.3mph on my ordered 34.5” tires. ?

Surprisingly? Lol what is surprising about a 392 spinning tires in first gear? I have not driven the Wrangler but I owned a Challenger and that car could bark and spin tires on demand. 12.8 is good, my best ever was 12.8 on a good DA in my challenger. I had an unfair disadvantage of being in Colorado at altitude though.

Couple things:

Traction control? Needs to be off
How did you Launch? Break and gas, it’s something you have to get used to
Tire PSI matters - softer is better.
Burnouts? A small one on street tires will help warm the tires up. Here’s a video of my challenger going against my buddy in a hellcat, no tire spin.

Um… did I just witness a scat pack beat a hellcat?!

I wish I had known that it would have been ok to just adjust our tire size at the track to fool the computer for the top speed. I was afraid it would mess with the computers or something, but I was able to pull a 12.8 limited to 99mph. I've still been curious what it would have done that night if it wasn't limited.

This video was so damn impressive! Was he using the paddle shifters or just holding it to the floor and letting the trans do its thing?

I was just letting the Jeep do it’s own shifting.
