Also, my dealer told me the FCA rep got in touch with them today and successfully changed the color of my order from green to black so I’m thinking the July 19th thing was “subject to change” (which it even says on the official chart thing on the Chrysler website, if you look closely at the asterisk Next to “July 19th”
I just ordered my Sting Gray Rubicon today.. July 31st. My dealer said August 6th is the cut off for them. Jealous of everyone’s wait time; mine is 6mths! Shipping to South Korea!

I'm waiting to see what the '19s look like. Worst case, I'll get a better deal on local inventory later in the year on an '18. Best case, get an even nicer rig than I would have (one can only hope, haha)

You will be glad you waited. The welds on the early Wranglers were terrible looking.
I looked at the welds on the Rubicon, Sahara and Sport last week at the local lot and they appeared much better.

You can order 2018, but some groups will be closed (LED).
I was talking to Kent at Peterson yesterday and the 2018 order bank is still open. A few options are not currently available

LED
Steel Bumper

But everything else can still be built and ordered. Give him a shout. He’ll hook you up!!

Same here. I am ordering the 2-door so hoping for maybe a MOAB or some other edition.

where do you look at the welds? I assume by the tires but is there any place else you can look without it being on a lift?

So in a strange twist of events, I ended up going with a 2018 jk rubicon recon. I know that won’t be a popular choice in this forum, but I couldn’t be happier. A few months ago I wouldn’t have even considered it but I feel like I made the right decision for me. I love the new JLs. I have no doubt that in most aspects, especially road manners and creature comforts, it’s an all around better vehicle. I’m definitely not one to hate on a newer model because it’s not what I have. I did realize though that many of the features on the JLs were features I could care less about. Although this is my first Jeep, and my first new car, I’m very familiar with the JKs. I really have no complaints about that platform. I keep hearing people who purchase a JL saying it’s everything the JK wasn’t. But I realized for me at least the JK was everything I want it to be. Actually the most common complaints are things I kind of like about it. The ride, the interior, the ruggedness.. that’s kind of why I wanted a Jeep. I don’t need anything practical at the moment. Maybe it was a dumb choice, but I’d make it again. Feel like a kid on Chrismas.

Good for you! I understand your choice. A 2018 JK should be the most reliable year of the JK series. The JK is definitely is a simpler, more proven design that has been around for 12 years. No e-Torque, ESS, extra batteries, other new technologies that might be in bata testing. Nice bang for your buck considering how quick FCA is increasing cost. Enjoy your new JK.

I don't think it's a dumb choice at all. The JK is roomier, more comfortable, and more proven. Plus, it's got 30 million aftermarket parts available today. Not to mention, it's less expensive, and parts for it are less expensive.

I dont delve too deeply. It can be difficult depending on how the vehicle wheels are turned, but I take a light and crawl under each of the corners and look at the same areas on each side for quality and consistency.
