I was reading about the issues with metal inside the 3.6 . I have a 2018 jl unlimited with the 3.6. I would like to know the mileage of the first oil change and all after that, also was the engine broken in properly. I would like to hear feedback from the people who have had this issue with their 3.6

I purchased a new Wrangler in May of this year. At approximately 700 miles, I experienced my first service issue with this new Wrangler. All service and two tows to the dealership... my new Jeep was in the service department for just over 70 days. Chrysler's Star Team got involved after metal was discovered in the oil. The end result was almost everything under the hood (batteries, PCM, engine, related electronics & sensors, and exhaust system) were replaced with new.

Many years ago when I was working as a teenager for my father, one of my responsibilities was to change the oil, filters, lubrication, fluids, etc. for an entire fleet of vehicles that included Ford, Chevrolet, Chrysler, Mercedes, Jeep, Honda, BMW... 1/4, 1/2, 3/4, 1, and 1 1/2 ton trucks, cars, vans, motorcycles, motorhomes, boats, and trailers. My father was a stickler for doing fluid and filter changes at 2500 miles. At the time everything was conventional oil products. I haven't deviated much from that original plan... other than I use full synthetics now and change oil and filters at 3500 miles. I still have my Ford Ranger pickup with a 4 cylinder engine that now has just over 307K miles. If something needs to be repaired or replaced it is repaired or replaced with OEM.

My personal objective is to follow manufacturer engineering guidelines regarding oil, filter, and lubricant selection. I am more interested in longevity and service life.

I have read that some have in excess of 400K on the 3.6 engines. So far I am quite pleased with the new 3.6 that was installed in my new Jeep. I do love my Jeep and drive it every day. I can't say enough positive about the dealership service department and Chrysler's Star Team for the support that they demonstrated to me at this time.

Hopefully you have found my response helpful.

Best regards,

Dennis

I've heard a lot of good things about the 3.6L "minivan motor" V6
  • Jeep Grand Cherokee
  • Dodge Durango
  • Jeep Wrangler
  • Chrysler 300
  • Ram 1500
  • Chrysler Voyager
  • Jeep Gladiator
  • Ram 1500
  • Dodge Challenger
also use/used the 3.6L. Why does everyone have to go right to the minivan example?

Man this fire is burning strong, BTW it is pointless to attempt to answer the original question as the OP is gone
We never even got an answer about the 20" wheels
