Read the article, it mentions using a helicopter since there is likely no other safe or legal option.

This is why I will always tell people to 1). Never go alone, and 2). Join a club. Legit clubs will keep you on legit trails and stop you from doing dumb stuff like this.

Exactly. And this is also how 4x4 vehicles in general suffer a bad reputation. You get enough of these yahoos and pretty soon Wranglers start getting a bad rap.

If it can be drove up there, It can be drove down. The cost of a sky crane helicopter will far out weight the cost of the vehicle. I would not be surprised if the cost to use a helicopter to pick up that wrangler and take it off the mountain was in excess of $50,000.
