In a previous thread I reported a rear axle assembly in my 2018 Wrangler JL going bad with under 35000 miles. 35000 miles and Rear Axle Assembly is shot | Jeep Wrangler Forums (JL / JLU) - Rubicon, Sahara, Sport, 4xe, 392 - JLwranglerforums.com

It was making popping noises when turning and sometimes when accelerating, which started in the first 10K miles, but dealership would not address it until recently.

They put in a "new" axle and the popping went away but was now with less than 100 miles was making a new noise, still when turning, which was a kind of metallic "whirring" sound. Most noticeable when accelerating in the turn but it can also be heard when making a coasting tight turn but much less audible.

Dealership took apart the "new" axle and found what they thought was a defective bearing or seal. Replaced all of the parts in the right side of the "new" axle. But was still making the same noise.

They claim they ordered and put in another "new" axle, or at least they said they did, but it is still making the same noise. So now it is back at the dealership.

I noticed when I looked up the replacement axle for my Jeep on MOPAR it shows five Dana 220's that it says fit it and one Dana 200. The one they ordered was part number 68401151AA which is listed as a Dana 220 and I noticed that one is priced at $1000.00 which is about $1500.00 less in price than all of the others listed that fit, except for the one Dana 200, which is $900 bucks.

Does anyone know why this is? Are they ordering a lower quality replacement or a rebuild to save money or something?

Been without the car for over two months total now so any assistance is appreciated.
