Even if my hybrid battery is un-charged, I get something like 26+mpg. I was driving a loaner JLU Willys this week, and that thing gets 16mpg ...

Gas mileage isn't everything, but it sure is nice.
Yea, I see some amazing mpg people post, I have never gotten anything better than the usual 14-16mpg, I'm almost all city, and that's with JK, JKU, jlu

I've got a heavy foot maybe.

I never checked mpg with my YJ or TJ, I didn't know mpg was a thing.

I did get 20+ at times doing very long distance like Toronto to NYC, or to the Midwest.

Hopefully only have about a month left before my 4xe arrives. With the way gas prices and inflation is going, I don't think I've ever been happier about pulling the trigger on an order at the right time. What do you think is the near future of the 4xe? Think demand and wait times will go up? Think resale will continue to climb?
FCA doesn’t have a good track record with electronics I would not buy an all EV Jeep I have no confidence in FCA’s quality with regards to an all electric Jeep. Just an opinion. I would never go off roading with one. Maybe wait few years before or if they can fix or improve the QC. I mean the doors all bubble up with paint issues I can only imagine all the issues with a first run all EV Jeep. But to each is own good luck. Jeep were never meant to be fuel efficient SUVs. An electric one seems to defeat the purpose of a Jeep.

The current 4XE is a great lease candidate. It's a 1st gen PHEV model with a modest electric range. It costs me $0.08/mile on electric vs $0.20/gas and 70% of my driving are on electric. The next gen will have better range and hopefully Jeep will sort out the numerous growing pain issues.

If you order a 4XE with a 9% discount off MSRP and get the $7.500 tax incentive thru the leasing company, you're looking at driving a $58K MSRP PHEV Jeep for around $400/month on a 36/10 lease.

I lease my 4XE and would buy the next gen if it is all electric or if they extend the PHEV range to 75-100 miles.

I believe all these factors will make used first-gen 4XEs less desirable than subsequent models.
This was my rationale for leading the 4XE. However, it does come with a great factory warranty on the battery and hybrid system
Oh wow! What a big difference. I just tested it. I turned off the blue battery button, put in 4H auto, stayed in hybrid mode and what a big power difference. Thanks to you, I may like this 4xE after all;)

Wait to you see the performance when you hit the Fuel Oil Refresh Mode. The engine runs full-time along with the battery, if your in hybrid mode. Just as when you use the shifter in M mode.

LOL, FCA doesn't have a great track record with ANYTHING! However, I would trust a total EV as much or MORE than I trust a conventional Jeep with an ICE and would trust either FAR more than the 4xe which is literally a mashup of both technologies in the same space. An EV has far less moving parts and heat and that's where a majority of your wear and trouble come from.

The 4xe didn’t appeal to me, the amount of miles on battery wouldn’t even get me halfway to work. I’m surprised more people don’t talk about the eco diesel here if we are talking gas savings

I'm a huge fan of diesels but it's been waning for the past few years. First it was the fuel reformulation in 2006, then the DEF in 08. Then the Ecodiesel I owned in my Ram in 2015 (epa scandals and class action suits and performance robbing reflashes, etc.). The latest generation should be better than the one I had but it's still a Fiat engine with expensive parts that these days take forever to get. Gone or significantly reduced are many of the advantages diesels used to enjoy like better mileage - they do get better mileage but not the 30% to 35% better they used to. Longer lasting and less overall maintenance needed - well, those days are gone with the all of the complexity they've choked them with and the recent move to different metals and composites in the blocks and cylinder walls.

Jeep wants an asinine amount of money for the diesel; then they go and put a start/stop system on it??!! Diesels don't like that. They like to be run long, hot and hard ("no that's what she said's" please!). I believe the Ecodiesel is in for some pain after a few years. Look at what's happening with the 2.0 litre in the 4xe, it's making oil like crazy because it cycles on and off and never gets hot enough. The rings never seat and the fuel slithers past them.

Then this latest fuel increase - I'm seeing the difference between gas and diesel going back to a dollar or more. Diesel used to be a buck cheaper than gasoline before 2006. After then it went to a dollar MORE but over the years settled down to being between regular and premium gas. Now it's back to a buck more? Yikes. Today I saw one station that had gas at 4.19 and diesel at 5.59 but that's an extreme example (and that station is known for raping it's diesel customers).

I'm in Ajax...drive mostly city and some highway. I charge everyday, but I do drive more than the electric limit sometimes.
In the cold I avg around 23 mpg, last fall I was around 26-27 mpg. Hopefully this summer it will be at 28 avg atleast.

I use a taser so the engine never turns off. Mine has been flawless to date but only 14k in

Well, the gas Sport I rented was getting 16mpg for the few days I rode it around town. Anyone I know who has a gas Wrangler says 16mpg is the best they get. My best friend has an ecodiesel wrangler and she gets 28mpg on average (I alwasys see the number on her dash). So I'm unsure where you get those assumptions. From real life scenarios I see a 55% bump for the wrangler, which is beyond worth it for me and my commute

LOL! Why is it me with the assumptions and not you with the unverified and opposite extremes? You took the extreme low "best" mileage of 16 (which is a city low and not typical) and the embellished 28 "average" mpg for the Ecodiesel?? LOL! Nobody is "averaging" 28 mpg in a Wrangler EcoDiesel. Sure, they can easily get that on the highway but not a chance that's average unless they are always on the highway 24/7 and have a tanker truck providing highway refueling at 60mph and another support vehicle they can jump over to so they can swap out drivers every 12 hours. Of course oil changes while moving will prove even more challenging than that.
