When can we say a Wrangler's been modded? What are the factors and thresholds for such status, I ask partly serious, and partly with humor?

Do changes that can't easily be reversed and visible enter into the calculus..such that grab handles and other easily reversible changes don't count?

Is it merely lifting the rig?

Is it changes we would make far beyond those of, say, an ordinary sedan, such that air fresheners don't count, but bumpers and grills and paint jobs do?

And how's about people who make interior changes, especially reversible ones like food storage and preparation cargo mods for camping?

Perhaps "mod" status best be determined by committee, whose members have interior design, and engineering, and body/customization/collision experience.;)

When it comes to jeep, a mod is pretty much anything- but only because you won’t see many mods under $50 (unless created by hand). The “air freshener, floor mats” types won’t stay there for that long. The following sentence is usually about the $2000 worth of other items they just bought...

Air fresheners and floor mats are accessories. Anything that becomes “part of the Jeep “ is a modification. I’ll say any “ catatog parts “ would fall under modifications. Anything made by you or for you, for that particular Jeep as a one off, I consider custom.
Those are my definitions anyway.

I put a shorty antenna on, and two magnets on the back. I are modded.

Jeep Wrangler JL The threshold for "mod" 6F0B3957-582D-42D2-A230-84142851B148

Hahaha! Sorry...I couldn’t resist. But in all seriousness, I guess anything that isn’t stock could be considered a mod...I’m not sure you can really put a price on what is and what isn’t a mod. Maybe the dividing line is whether or not the item’s main function is to alter capability or aesthetics. An air freshener’s main function is to alter scent and therefore wouldn’t be a mod. But I think these questions are very subjective...like if two people on opposite ends of the Earth simultaneously drop a slice of bread on the ground, does the world temporarily become a huge sandwich?
