The dreaded light display...

Driving down the interstate yesterday the check engine light came on, then every service light known to man lit up. The speedometer went to zero then back on...service 4wd and sway bar lights on along with traction control. I pulled the battery and it it load tested it was good but needed charged. The guy at O'Reilly's wondered if alternator was going? I have been running without the small ess battery for several years. Jscan was showing tons of issues and even more in a full scan.

I am taking it to a trusted mechanic to see if this is due to wheel speed sensor or some other sensor issues. I have been trickle charging battery and will see if I can drive it to mechanic this evening. Did not want to come out of park late in the day yesterday. Fun times ahead!

this looks like one of two things. battery is failing or the can bus connection behind the glove box is failing... search the forum for can bus issue and you will find a few post about changing out the can bus connector its about 20 bucks on ebay for the new connector

I did trade my 2019 Sahara just before it hit 60K but not because of this. The 2023 Rubicon on the lot caught my eye and I had to trade up. No regrets.

So mechanic did not have a code reader as he is a small shop and he has not updated and can only do 2018 or older when code reading. So took to Jeep dealer. They told me that the cause was my jscan add on extension and the security port to attach reader to. Said it was getting hot and interfering with communication!

I did not think that had anything to do with it....so I went and got in my running jeep they pulled around and the check engine light as well as the traction control warning light was on. Pulled into garage and they hooked there reader to it. They were surprised that my aftermarket reader cables were not the cause! Left the jeep to see what hair brained thing they will come up with next. To be continued.....
