Hi everyone! I discovered an "issue" and I am now able to reproduce 100% of the times. Could someone please try on their Jeep and see if that's a common problem that is worth making the Tazer folks aware of?
After I perform a full reboot, if I leave the ignition on RUN and start the engine (3.6), it starts but then stalls/dies immediately (no warnings or lights). If after the full reboot I turn the ignition to off and then start the engine, it starts fine.
- Am I supposed to turn the ignition to off after a full reboot? The manual doesn't say that.
- Even if that's the case, what could be causing the engine to stall with no warnings or anything? That's a bit scary.
Thank you!

After a reboot, you’re supposed to do a couple full shutdowns. Says it in the Taser manual.

You aren't following the directions properly. You need to reboot and then perform 2 full sleep cycles.

• After making all of your changes, scroll to “full reboot?” and “select” it.
• After the countdown, perform two sleep cycles.
• The quickest way to do this is to turn the ignition off, close the driver’s door and wait about 60 seconds AFTER the dash goes dark, turn the ignition on (but not the engine). Do this twice.
• This step is critical after changing settings or settings might not save or you
may find that the dash doesn’t shut down, which can result in a dead battery.

Thanks! Yeah I just noticed that in some parts it just says "perform a full reboot", while in others (which I should have read, for sure) it does mention turning off the car afterwards.
Any time you make a change, you must do a full reboot followed by the 2 sleep cycles. This infers shutting off the vehicle.

With that said, I am still curious to know what the Tazer is doing that would cause the engine to stall.
Without following the full reboot and sleep cycle process, the vehicle may be left in a state where it can't read the PCM in order to run properly.

2 sleep cycles required after a full reboot, every thing off and fob away from vehicle for several minutes, ignition on/off and fob away a second time

Thank you everyone! Evidently, I should have read the manual more carefully ? have a great weekend!
@johnbyron

I always tell guys to keep a copy of the Tazer JL instructions in the Jeep at all times... An easy way to do this is to keep the instruction pdf on your smart phone.

Anyway, ya never know when you will need to read / reread those instructions in order to get you out of a Tazer JL related situation lets say.

Do know that even guys/gals that have used /had the Tazer JL for years need to re-read the instructions on occasion....

Reading / going over the Tazer JL instructions, is especially important when you update the firmware on the Tazer JL. When you go to do a firmware update, seek out what is new/changed, etc. in regard to the Tazer JL and that new firmware.

Whether you read or not, you will find you have questions and concerns in regard to the Tazer JL.

I have been working with the Tazer JL, since Joe / ZAutomotive first offered it.... and even to this day, I get ?, etc. and reach out to Joe or ask other's here on the forum... With that said no harm, no foul coming here and asking ? , etc... There is no such thing as a stupid ?.

Hint: Always when you ask ? in regard to the Tazer JL, always mention what firmware version you are running.
