Hello All,
I have a new 2019 JLUR, and I'm looking to put 35's on. I've read all the posts on the tazer mini and super chips. I don't want to really send out my computer for the super chips thing.
The tazer mini seems to do everything I need it to. I was wondering if there are any issues with it? If you need to remove it does it leave your Jeep changed forever? I read on one thread that after installing the Tazer that you will get a ding after starting the vehicle everytime......like when a check engine or other light comes on in the dash. Is that true?
Any insights on how it works would be great!

Man, that sounds like what a semi-honest politician would say…”Let me tell you how this will sound…that way you know it’s coming and don’t get upset”! I’m messing with you and you know, you’re right! ;)

@Billet2019 , when you search, just go to Google and put in what you’re looking for with the addition of JL (i.e. Tazer JL)…you’ll see this forum and other resources with plenty of facts and options pop up.

BTW, welcome to the Forum! There is a ton of valuable information here.

You may have skipped a few hundred posts on the Tazer JL... @jlewissystem is right... there are eleventy-hundred topics on the good, bad, ins, outs of the Tazer. I guarantee you'll find the answers to every one of your questions. Different owners have experienced different or isolated problems, or no problems at all with the Tazer. The device doesn't make permanent changes. There's plenty of discussion on when to marry/unmarry, revert back to stock, etc.

Typically I'd send a link or two related posts, but the Tazer is a hot topic here and there are entirely too many. You'll find what you need.

Honestly, @melendez69 seems to be on most threads and he has a movie quote for all of them!

Thanks for all the replies, but I have read all the threads that I could find on this site, as stated in my opening post.
I was more curious about the dinging you get.

Hi, when reading through all the 100s and 100s of posts you will find everything you don’t want to happen, everything you want to happen and everything in between with many updates so I completely understand asking the question now after all the updates.

I purchased the Tazer Mini about 30 days ago, updated it and it has worked flawlessly other that a couple strange occurrences that has not repeated in the last couple weeks. (Total random reboot of the system while driving 2 times and my backup camera went blank one time which I had to unmarry and remarry the Tazer to get it back to work and have not had an issue since.).

I think it is great. I use it only for a few things so far, tire recalibration, TPMS adjustment, the start/stop features turned off and using the lockers in 4WH so other features may cause other issues I am not aware of.

I don’t get any dinging, or any strange start up issues. I do try to let the computer boot up before I through it in reverse and go.
Good news is if you are not happy with it, just unmarry it and sell it on this site for a minimal loss. I think most would be very happy with the results. Also, if you have any issues, Tazer has great support through text or email. Good Luck

Edit: I just saw a thread were many people were have issues with the back up camera doing exactly what mine was in completely stock form so I now know that had nothing to do with the Tazer.

Guaranteed that your random reboots, etc. have nothing to do with Tazer. UConnect just hiccups on its own every once in a while.

OP - I’ve been running the original two piece Tazer for more than a year. It’s great. I use older firmware version 11.0.6.l, as ESS kill is flaky in the newest firmware.

I have had my mini for about 2 months. We havent had any "weird" issues or dinging. My wife had an issue where it got "stuck" updating. She had to re-update and re-marry, but that was it. For the purposes of new tire size and (re-gearing for me), it has worked well. I think some guys get "tweaky" behavior, but that's part of the programming game sometimes. The Tazer resource on this forum has helped many people work through their issues.

No dinging, if you "unmarry" all settings go back to stock. it was easy to setup, but some things are a bit buggy and they don't seem to iron out issues with it real well. My turn cam hangs up often which has been an issue for some time now with previous versions.
