The OEM camera shuts off at a specific speed. My understanding (maybe incorrect) is that the Tazer has no control over the OEM front camera. Not a complaint but a curiousity.

Yesterday after using cooldown mode for 100% fan speed on a offroad uphill climb and then switching cooldown mode back off, my front camera icon on the unconnect started blinking sporadically brighter and dimmer. I was going about 40mph and touched the front camera touchscreen button and the front camera displayed on the screen. I did have turn signal cam activated at one point in the past but deleted it.

The front and rear camera icons in the upper left corner of the screen displayed and allowed me to toggle between the two even at freeway speed. Today still the same. I can display the front and rear camera display at ant speed in drive. Is this a glitch or just one more thing I didn’t know about the Tazer?

It's a Tazer feature.

Just to confirm. OEM front camera availability at any speed is a tazer feature? And the pulsing of the OEM front camera icon from brighter to dimmer.…is a coincidence?

The instructions say
use backup camera and added cargo/front camera or media player at any speed with a button shortcut
I thought this meant the added zautomotive front camera not the OEM front trail camera?

The front camera icon on the main display is dimmed/disabled above 8 mph, a factory behavior matching the parameters for TrailCam use.

The Tazer has a live feature that enables the reverse camera at any speed, so the factory TrailCam gets enabled too. The TrailCam can be accessed using it's icon on the reverse camera screen after selecting the rear camera from the main screen.

Are you able to turn on the TrailCam from the main screen when the icon is dimmed? I'm not sure I've ever tried that.

Thanks for that info.
Besides my own reading comprehension issues, I’m always getting duped into believing I understand what the wording of the Tazer instructions actually mean.

Yesterday we are driving about 50mph and my wife asks “is your front camera icon glitching?” I have it in the bottom tool bar of the Uconnect screen and it’s pulsung brighter and dimmer in an irregular pattern a couple of times per second. So I push the front camera icon and the front camera view I’d displayed on the screen. I toggle between the front and rear icons in the top left corner and the display responds as expected. I hit the x icon in the top right corner of the screen and the Home Screen comes back up. The front camera icon continues to pulse brighter and dimmer regardless of what is being displayed.

Maybe I hadn’t noticed until yesterday but now the pulsing icon is annoying like every other first world problem.

Wow, I've never seen my front camera icon pulse like that (only dim and brighten when first getting up to speed and coming to a stop). But I can definitely use the camera at any speed because of the Tazer.

Ok regarding the dim and brighten mine was the same until yesterday. I’ll inspect the camera cable this week.
Thanks again for your info on the use at any speed. Today I learned.

@THAW I messed around a bit with this yesterday. I cannot turn on the TrailCam from the main screen when the icon is dimmed. If I double tap the mute button the rear camera is displayed, and the rear and trail cam icons come up in the upper left hand corner of the display. If I tap the trail cam icon in the upper left corner of the screen, the trail cam view is displayed at any speed.

Oddly, if the trail cam is being displayed in this sequence, and I tap the “x” icon in the upper right corner of the display, it closes out the camera display, and the trail cam icon on the lower task bar pulses from dim to bright. Then I can use the trail cam icon on the lower task bar ( or whatever it’s really called) to directly display the front trail cam at any speed.

Anyway much ado about nothing.

Most of the behavior you described jives with my experience, except I don't remember seeing the pulsing icon.

The other day, after reading your posts, I tried pressing the dimmed icon and it didn't work. In the process, I realized the front camera icon is on the 2nd page of the main menu so I haven't had it regularly visible since I first got my Tazer (for a brief period I had the icon in the custom lower row). Maybe mine pulses and I just don't realize it. I'll try to duplicate the order of your steps and see if the icon pulses.

This behavior sounds familiar but I dont exactly remember. However I do remember that I switched from the front cam on the main screen to the rear cause of some annoying reason and now I just hit the rear button and then switch to front cam from there when needed.

I was able to duplicate the front camera icon pulsing (in the main app menu) by using the mute button double tap (it didn't occur when accessing the TrailCam using only the rear camera icon and switching cameras from the camera screen).

The icon pulsed briefly mostly when crossing the TrailCam 8 mph speed limit, almost like the Tazer is "fighting" the Jeep's unsuccessful attempts to disable the icon. Now that I've seen it in person, I think I have a vague memory of noticing it when I first got my Tazer.

I think it's "normal" behavior, and the "solution" is not double tapping the mute button. I don't use that shortcut, except occasionally by accident.
