I’ve never seen one on a wrangler. Someone needs to come up with a system that works for the JL. They would sell.
The stock setup works pretty good, but it’s scary when my wife opens the tailgate on ours. She is incapable of recognizing that there could be an issue when the Jeep is parked down hill or off camber. We have an after market tire carrier that replaces the factory hinges and, although she’s yet to break anything, I swear she has lifted the tires on this thing letting that tailgate and 37” tire be at gravity’s mercy. WAM!!!
Main reason I want one as well. I'm used to the weight of the tailgate +37s +beadlocks so opening it is not an issue although I will say it has slammed shut on me before in high wind conditions in the desert.
My wife on the other hand either opens it too aggressively and I watch the tailgate "bounce" off the hinges or doesn't open it hard enough and it slams shut.
