Tailgate Onboard Air

So, I'm pricing out a new JL Willys, and I see they're offering the Mopar Tailgate Air Compressor in the Willys now. Granted, I ain't paying no $2000 for something that week (or so I've heard ... haven't seen one in person yet). But having it in the tailgate is kind of a nice spot to keep it out of the way and relatively dust free I assume. Has anyone done this location with a non-Mopar air compressor?

I have the American Adventure Labs TACS system. That black box houses the Dual ARB compressor. I have the ARB pressure control system - and Apex Quad Air hoses - so I can connect all 4 tires and air down using the app to a set pressure and air up using the app. AAL installed the tailgate stuff, I ended up doing the wiring from the battery all the way back (went on top of the frame and dived into the trunk via a hole in the floor under rear passenger seat). Works perfect.

@Ratbert Well … $1995, if that $5 means a lot to ya. I also think the $525 for a “tool kit”is a bit much … unless it includes an entire garage

For half that you can have a dual arb under the passenger seat and a 4 tire system.

Oh I completely agree. Hell the AAL one neoprufrok mentioned is by probably around $2K, maybe a touch more, but it’s a hell of a compressor compared to the Mopar.

id rather use that space for a table, because im already using that space for a locker/table lmao. 2k USD is a ton for just not enough in this case

I'm not sure why you replied like that. Maybe it was just to agree with me that $2k is a hell of a lot for a single cylinder compressor (which would take one hell of a long time to air decently-sized tires up).
