Assuming a bit here with the JK, but I did pull the specs:
Jeep Wrangler JL Suspension Recommendation 1725544588659-gx

I'd anticipate, like the JL, that the only appreciable difference in the suspensions is the shocks, may be some minor difference in spring rate. From the spec sheet, I'd assume the Sahara comes with an upgraded monotube like in the JL.

Other than suspension, your tires will be a large contributor to ride quality, including your tire pressure.

Start with free (or a couple quarters) what pressure are you set at? What's on the door sticker?

75k may simply be time to replace the shocks, as well. New shocks will increase control if the current set is worn out.

I believe they moved the rear shock mounts outside the frame rails from the JK to the JL. Someone would have to correct me on that if I'm mistaken. Small change but important one to note.

I second the tire pressure check. Over inflated tires can make the ride harsh regardless of suspension, shocks, etc.

Door sticker says 35 psi and we run 35. Anything around 28psi and the TPMS light comes on.

I believe the in laws do have different sized wheels. Which could mean they have the monotube high pressure instead of the low pressure?

"Low pressure" shocks are twin tube style. It's likely really the valving differentiation, and the chance that your current shocks are worn out.

I wouldn't go crazy on the shocks, most "performance" shocks will be firmer.

I installed a pair of tough dog on my Sahara. 9 states stiffness adjustment and you can play around with the setting. I’m happy with it.

+2 on tire pressures. You can get yourself a JScan, Tazar or similar like AEV Pro Cal then you can alter your tire pressure. Also if your tires are old and sunbaked, new (and larger) rubber will also make a world of difference.

Since on highway ride is your priority, then ignore the recommendations for full suspension kits. These shocks usually get great reviews for comfort. If you still have 10 year old factory shocks, it's time for some new ones.

Depending on how old the tires are, it may be time for new ones as well, especially if you are still on the original set. Look at Bridgestone, Firestone or Michelin for a smooth ride.

Enough of us here have had JKs to make recommendations, but you may want to consider joining a forum that also includes JKs. This one is dedicated to the JL. Mid 2018 though current year.
