It's in a 2026 Willys. I had been able to use the microphone to tell Android Auto to place calls to those on my contact list without a problem. Suddenly I started getting an error message every time. It starts up as normal saying "calling xxxxxx" then it says "Something went wrong".

I can initiate a call from the phone and have it come over the vehicles speakers, and use the built in microphone, it just won't place calls hands free.

Any suggestions?

I already tried forgetting and reconnecting the phone and clearing the Android Auto cache and storage.

I had to remove the phone from Uconnect and then add it again. Make sure you let it add your contacts.

Wired or Bluetooth? Occasionally I will have similar issues with my iPhone/ Carplay and the Bluetooth transmitter. I have to disconnect the bluetooth transmitter and basically let it reboot, then plug it back in.

I have tried it plugged in and BT. No difference.

Fixed it,

Settings
USB Preferences
File Transfer / Android Auto must be checked when connected to the vehicle with a cable. Not sure why it wasn't working with Bluetooth. I just realized I need to double check that works as well.

I never touched it before fixing it just now. I assume it was changed when I did an app or OS update.

Works fine now.

I've got the same problem with my 2025 Willys. Android phone used to work where I could push the steering wheel button and it would verbally ask me. I'd say call xyz and it would do so.

Now I get no answer or sometimes I do and it's a Gemini answer. The Jeep knows and does recognize my cell phone and I can manually push buttons on display to call a "contact".

Took it to the dealer and my sales guy has vast experience with all Jeep features. He concluded that there is something not set up right in my phone as it won't allow the Jeep to engage the verbal response .

Can you relate the steps u used to get the problem resolved. I'm not using a cable but going thru bluetooth.

My fix is in post #6. Fixing it for the cable connection also fixed the BT. I am able to make calls using the voice assistant either way again.
