That grill reminds me of the post-lawsuit Mahindra Roxor

I would like to see Jeep would buy the Roxor operation and start making a basic, street legal CJ again.

And also, you've already bought one but my vote would be for the patriot fastback big air grille. That still screams Jeep to me while being different!
The EAG grille that I bought was only $90, so I'm not married to it. That Patriot Fastbacks Big Air Grille is a bit pricey ($520). But it's an awfully attractive cross between a Jeep and... a tractor? Still, there's a lot to like here.

What I'm wondering is if those big open spaces are exposing the radiator fins. The style looks good, but it could end up inviting trouble?

100% agree. I'd like to try but if I were to do it, I'd be more interested at the 2 to 300 range and probably still like to add some mesh. Considering it wouldn't come painted, there'd still be quite a bit of work to do on it.

Actually, as this thread proves, no grille looks better than the one Jeep intended it to have. The grille design itself is a trademarked logo and is definitive of the brand.

No denying it. The Wrangler grill is attractive and it has the best story to go along with it. But there are those of us who do hear the call of the unique and the interesting. Like Oracle Lighting's spider-faced grille:

Perhaps hideous AND interesting in equal measure. Say what you will, it's the modern appearance that really works for me. I love the crazy good cyberpunk feel of this one too, but I just can't just ditch my existing headlights for it.

I'm not after something that makes a statement, but at the same time, I don't mind it. Otherwise, I'd be chasing down a skirt kit and some extreme negative camber...

I saw one of those in real life the other day. I can't explain how wrong it looked once on the Jeep. It does not flow with the design at all. Makes it look like a 3rd world Jeep knock off.

Just dye your hair green and put a bone through your septum if you want to be different and get attention no matter what.

The Oracle posted above with the 8 spider eyes on it.
Bummer... but I think I get it. You're not a fan of it's appearance. But your main point here is, that aside, the whole design language is foreign to the rest of the vehicle to the point where it actually clashes. Yes?

The strange "JK" grille from EAG came in the mail today. I haven't had time to mount it (I've got an aftermarket trail camera getting in the way) but everything looks good to mount on a JL. The installation docs clearly state that this grill is for JL's.

The backside allows for the wire mesh itself to be removed, and it looks like those are real JK light holders, and they can be removed, too:

Here's a closeup of the back side of the light holders. I'm not sure if those are going to be good for a turn signal to be relocated or if the fog lights might instead relocate into this space? Probably not for fog lights because of the filter.

Anyhow, it was a stunning deal for $90 shipped. I believe that EAG still sells a different variant of these for about $100 more which includes a small LED white light bar.

If we're going to say that we're against "angry eyes", then we should at least be able to step forward and say what we're for when someone's shopping for an alternative grill. But that doesn't mean we can't acknowledge that the stock grill has the best historical meaning out of all the alternatives. It really does.

I might end up sticking with this one. Thanks for all the help in coming up with less angry alternatives... it is appreciated!
The picture you originally posted of it has it on a JL......look at the hood latches.

That EAG grille is a tricky one. It's got fixtures for JK turn signals, but otherwise that grille is made to go on a JL body.

Exactly.

When I bought my F150 in 2015, I hated the grille that was in it. I didn't think it flowed well with the design of the truck. But Ford had alternate grilles for different packages. A matte grey Lariat Sport grille was what I swapped to.

So, I'm not against changing things up. People swap Rubicon, Sahars and Willys grills back and forth between models all the time. Matte black, vs painted vs different accent colors on the trim inserts etc.

I’m fairly certain you can search alibaba for these grilles w/ shipping around $300.
Have fun and good luck!

Ya, I guess some people really wanted the turn signals back on the grill. The hood latches were a good indicator. TBH, for what you paid for it. I probably would have done the same just to mess with it. Unfortunately, my winch makes easily messing with the grill a half day event.
