Okay, I've had a lot of Jeeps, and now at this point two JLs. I just last month traded my 2022 Sahara 4xe in on a 2024 Rubicon with the 3.6L

The 2024 is a Jeep Certified Pre-owned, and was not listed as having a lift under it, but it feels taller. I don't just mean the look, which of course looks taller because of the taller fender flares. I mean getting in and out, and driving it, feels taller just a little bit

Now, my 4xe was a Sahara, and I had put on a steel bumper and winch and was a 4xe so it was loaded down

But, I've got two questions: in the JL, should a stock Rubicon stand taller than a stock Sahara? Also, if I wanted to check to see if it had been lifted at all, what are some points on the Jeep that I could measure to and measurements to compare against?

The suspension underneath *looks* stock. It's got the red shocks in the rear, doesn't stand out as aftermarket

If it's got anything under it, it's a leveling kit or 2" or less, but I both need to know because I am thinking of getting the Mopar service plan, but also I'm just ultra curious if my and my wife's minds are playing tricks on us or what

yes a stock rubicon will be taller by an inch or so if they have the same size tires...

Okay, thanks. It's silly that there is not a good source of documentation on this. Jeep's docs seem to indicate that they should be the same but it's not entirely clear, and my experience is definitely different

take some photos of your front coils and shocks and you will get plenty of answers if it is stock or has a spacer lift...

I have personally verified that at least sometimes Sport and Rubicons come with the exact same springs. That is the case for the front springs on my 2 door. So no, any ride height increase may be the tires rather than the springs.

Springs are dependent on options for a given Wrangler. So a super heavy optioned 4 door Sport may come with the same springs that a stripped down Rubicon 2 door.

The Rubicon has a 1.5" lift compared to a Sport/Sahara and the higher fenders which also lends to the perception of height.

No, I mean I looked at the springs for a 2 door Rubicon hardtop (with tow package) and my 2 door Sport hardtop (without tow package), both with plastic bumpers, and the front springs were identical part numbers. That was as close as I could readily find for a comparison, and aside from the tow package, they were identically equipped. The rear springs on the Rubicon were slightly stiffer but that would make sense for towing.

The Rubicon comes factory with taller tires. The highline fenders make it look taller but if one were to measure the actually suspension, new vs new, you would find the suspension height would be roughly the same. The XR package on the Rubicon or Willys does add a physical 1.5” factory lift.

See, now I've got two different answers in this thread. It's not tires, because I kept my tires and wheels from the 4xe when I traded it, so it is literally the same wheels and tires. Not just the same size/brand, the same literal tires

And when I say it feels taller, I am talking about getting in and out of it, and sitting in the Jeep looking out the windshield. I get that the fenders make it look taller because they are higher, but that is not entirely what I'm talking about

I really wish I had taken some measurements on my 4xe Sahara before trading it in. The Rubicon has the upgraded Mopar "step" rock sliders, which having to kind of climb over to get into the Jeep may account for some of the perception as you get in and out of it, but my wife swears it's higher

Someone earlier said I should post a picture of the front springs to get some opinions, here we are:

Could simply be that your Sahara has some suspension sag due to age.. or added mods. Doesn’t take much to drop 1/2”.

Again the Rubicon is ~1.5" taller from a Sport/Sahara. Its why on Aftermarket lifts that are 99.9% based off a Rubicon you get an extra ~1-2" of lift on anything but a Rubicon.

Factory part numbers on springs arent reliable because there is no "Rubicon" spring they are all dependent on options, engine, trans, body style. There was a thread a while back that some dude lost his mind because his "xr" has regular "rubicon" springs and refused to listen to everyone.

This is also why a bunch of Sport guys look for Rubicon take off suspension to get a bit of lift for cheap.

Please forgive me if this sounds condescending in any way, I'm only trying to be informational.

When I first got my 2024 4xe and took it in for service, when I got it back I swore it was taller just because of what you said, getting in and out.

Thanks to the kind folks on this forum, I realized that the service person had probably adjusted the seat height. Sure enough, that's what it was! I was coming off a 2006 TJ that did not have adjustable seats, so I was not ready for the newfangled stuff!

With the JL, it was my understnading that all things equal, the Sahara was .75" higher than the Sport, and the Rubi again .75" higher than the Sahara...🤷‍♂️
