I’ve had a Stinger HEIGH10 head unit installed to replace the factory head unit. It’s great and I’m happy I did it. I’m not seeing a thread in this forum, so I thought it start one here in hopes there are some other owners who would want to share their experiences or pose questions.

Within the set of gauges available in the Vehicle Information, there’s a “Calculated Load” and an “Absolute Load” gauge. Does anyone know how these parameters are measured or calculated, and how to interpret the values displayed (which are in %)? Did some searching but couldn’t find much info.

I have the same setup and it was explained to me that it is a measurement of how much the engine is under load, both calculated and absolute. I know that doesn't really answer your question as to how they are measured. I found this under the SAE website:

"Characteristics of LOAD_PCT (or calculated load) are:

Reaches 1.0 at WOT at any altitude, temperature or rpm for both naturally aspirated and boosted engines.
Indicates percent of peak available torque.
Linearly correlated with engine vacuum
Often used to schedule power enrichment.
Compression ignition engines (diesels) shall support this PID using fuel flow in place of airflow for the above calculations.

Characteristics of LOAD_ABS (absolute load) are:

Ranges from 0 to approximately 0.95 for naturally aspirated engines, 0 – 4 for boosted engines,
Linearly correlated with engine indicated and brake torque,
Often used to schedule spark and EGR rates,
Peak value of LOAD_ABS correlates with volumetric efficiency at WOT.,
Indicates the pumping efficiency of the engine for diagnostic purposes."

I just noticed your post. On the steering wheel search button, I’ve not used it for radio station searches, have used it only for Sirius XM, and for this, the control button cycles only through the preset stations and only on one band. I’ll try the radio and let you know what happens (cycling through presets vs all stations); will also see if I can get it to cycle through individual XM stations - in a later post.

So I checked my steering wheel controls and can confirm the right button controls volume up and down. Holding the middle part of the right button cycles through the various AV functions. The left button - a momentary press up or down cycles through presets. Holding the up or down button when in radio mode searches for the next active frequency. In the XM mode, holding the button advances the station until you release the button. If you hold the middle part of the button, this will cycle through the available bands (XM1, XM2, XM3 or FM1, FM2, FM3, AM1, AM2, AM3). I didn’t do the install myself, so I don’t know if there’s a trick to implement this after install or a way to change it. I’ve not found a setting to adjust this. Hope this helps.
