Life is generally easy for people with their own personal private charger at their house to plug into, the rest of us that depend on public chargers it's a very different reality.

Cars blocking public chargers is very common, imagine you read the manual, precondition pull up to a blocked charger during winter.

Also notice this is a big parking lot with almost no cars, but this Tesla chose to consciously block this charger.

EV drivers are some of the worse assholes, and it will only get worse as more people start to drive EVs.

The fact that you own a 4xE is comedic genius I could only hope to achieve.

All my lawn equipment are now EVs and I've never been happier.
Quieter, no smell and no cord to jank till my arm falls off.
My yard equipment (except for the big chainsaw) is electric. I regretted the mower at first, a battery failed after a few months. Then the mower failed, they told me to take it to a local shop for warranty repair, We are not accepting warranty work at this time. They finally replaced it, but on back order so I damn near needed a swather when it arrived. Another issue was the batteries ALMOST got the yard mowed and you can’t just add a pint of gas and finish….. the replacement came with another pair of batteries so that problem is resolved. I am now satisfied with the electric yard equipment.

I've invested in the WORX brand and since they all share the same batteries I have extra batteries when needed.
Using the blower if the battery dies I pop in the battery from the sander etc...
My weedwacker, small chainsaws, blower, sander, hedge trimmer are all cordless electric now.
If for some reason i run out of battery power thats just natures way of saying I've done to much work for the day.
Coffee time...

Essentially the same, I had a gas power head that ran all the other attachments, when the second gas engine quit I got an electric power head. The mower, edger, and tiller use the same batteries. They do annoyingly kick off too easy to “keep me safe” , nothing is perfect.

My only remaining gas user is my TORO twin blade mower which I bought 5 years ago.
I'm on a little more than a half acre and electric mowers werent what they are now, but that will be replaced with electric when it goes. (I may go sooner)🙃
I recently bought a 5 gallon gas tank and I'm not sure if I'm a pussy but holding up five gallons at the angle needed to fill the mower is a bitch.
Not to mention I need to click a button and move a lever for gas to flow out of the container all while holding up the tank.
Swapping batteries will be a relief when I get rid of this.

When it comes to lawn tools, I don't own anything that takes batteries! Oh no! I see they make electric riding mowers...that could be an option in the future.

The practical application of EV yard tools is there. While I don't know that I'd want an electric saw for everything, it sure beats trying to keep gas fresh and the carb healthy when it only gets used a few times per year. (I already use non-ethanol 92 octane gas, synthetic oil mix, and Stabil).

For this specific issue, I think using the current state of EV is an incorrect measure by which to judge a 10-year goal, in which there will still be plenty of ways to buy ICE vehicles, and where stop-sale legislation doesn't actually apply to every ICE vehicle.

There isn't anything from the US' past by which to learn from in this instance. We can look at the original EV's developed in the 1800's but that's not an accurate representation of today. If anything, we have many other nations' lessons by which we can model because the US isn't keeping up with how their fleets are transforming. We have a lot to learn from those already ahead of us.

Burying one's head in the sand is a highly unsustainable way of doing things.
Government mandates are problematic and there is evidence to show this worldwide. Remember those protests in France recently, the yellow vest protests? They taxed the crap out of fuel to try to force people to switch to EVs. But they didn't stop to consider how that was going to effect the farmers, and transportation industry, all the rural folks, etc. What happened? Massive protests and months of economic instability, in the end Macron canceled the taxes.

Not enough? How about when Germany mandated that they shift their power sources to renewable energy, and away from nuclear, and coal? They became over-reliant on Russian Gas and Oil and that did not end well for them. When gas prices spiked during the Ukraine war, energy costs skyrocketed, hitting industry and low-income households hard. They restarted their coal plants, they haven't been able to meet the emissions targets, they have the most expensive electricity in all of Europe, and public sentiment has turned against green policies.

Similar things have happened in Australia and New Zealand as well. In New Zealand it resulted in the voting out of all those who were pushing the policies, and repeal of those policies. Same thing in Australia, pushing those policies resulted in electing a new conservative government that replaced all the existing laws.

And now we've had TWO auto transport ships full of EV's in the last two years catch fire, burn for weeks uncontrollably spewing toxic smoke into the environment, then sinking to the bottom of, and polluting the ocean...
And what do we hear from the evangelists on this topic??

Crickets!

Nothing to see here, right? 😆

I'm sure container ships never spill fuel or oil. Right? When was the last Superfund designated for cleaning up an EV spill?

Also

How many containers of ICE vehicles are rotting on the ocean floor and leaching oil and gas into the ocean right now?

I only have one good old gas can left. The new ones are a PITA.

While I agree with the government being heavy handed at times, and don't like it. I don't agree we don't need regulations. Regulations are the reason you can generally grab a cup of water out of most any tap in America. They are the reason we see generally consistent food quality, air quality, heck, even booze quality. Corporations will devour themselves and their customers if not kept in check. The free market won't keep them in check so its up to regulations.
While a do agree with you that some regulations are needed other we do not need. For example this bill.

You're evading the specific topic I was talking about!
How many ships does society have to lose because of the inadequate fire suppression systems aboard the ships carrying cargo that when ignited, fuels its own fire??
These are undisputed facts regarding the transport of these things!
If you can, dddress them, just don't comment on my post with gibberish.

The real issue is why can't we have both ICE and EV? Just like everything they both have pros and cons. I hate EV mandates, tax credits and incentives but would consider a Slate if it actually comes in around $20k. But I would also never give up having a ICE vehicle as well.

The only reason we argue about it is because government is trying to force it on us. Which is what we should all be fighting against. But people are ok to be forced into something as long as they like it.
