Anyone who thinks this is just a bargaining chip to negotiate better deals should think long and hard about what happens when China and/or the EU calls his bluff. 80% of the crap on Amazon is going to double in price. Consumer spending dies, and so does the economy.

Fun fact: 50% of US imports are used for domestic manufacturing. So even Made in the USA, prices will go up.

It's too early to say what will happen. Today stocks got crushed, but remember stocks were up nearly 50% over the last 2 years. There is speculation about negotiations reducing tariff rates. It will take at least 2 years for production of imports to move onshore, perhaps more. Some pundits say revenue from tariffs are fundamental to extending 2017 tax cuts and managing the budget deficit. However, estimates of tariff revenue by financial analysts are about half of what the administration is predicting.

I don't see serious price increases on the Wrangler because I suspect deals will be worked out with Mexico and Canada on parts. Ford just announced employee pricing for anyone wanting to jump ship. On the other hand, there are now dealer premiums on the Land Cruiser which had advertised discounts a month ago.

We had two agreements with Canada and Mexico the first one was NAFTA and that was replaced by USMCA.
Not sure why those agreements were not suffice for the current administration.
I could go on but this is a JEEP forum.
