24 rubicon on 35’s while in moab, I had several steering system hot diminished steering warnings pop up. Happened on Top of the world and poison spider. first i thought it was because i had the front locker locked but id it when unlocked too. steering still worked but took more effort like you were locked. It was about 100f every day. Never had that happen on my jk’s on similar trails and heat. Fluid level is fine.

I have not had the issue you experienced, nor have I heard anything like that personally. I assume its the electrical pump working hard in a harsh condition, whereas JK is belt driven that might have better tolerance in hot climate.

Simple enhancement is to add a cooler. It will add more fluid to the circulation and help heat exchange. I have the Apex cooler and it works great but any oil cooler will work.

Unfortunately, normal for a JL in those conditions. JK had a different steering system.

I guess if it is normal I won't worry about it. I was a little worried when it first happened as I was towards the top of top of the world and thought it would suck driving down without steering.

There is something you can do to help. Open up the hood vents.

It doesn't do anything for engine temps while driving on-road, that has been tested and confirmed on this forum. But in 100+F desert it does provide a chimney for heat to escape the engine compartment during slow off-road crawling. It also prevents heat soak once the engine is turned off.

I've never got the exact message you got but I've gotten my JL to throw codes and go into limp mode from normal Jeep use in southern UT desert heat. It even thought the outside air temp was 156 degrees (it was hot but not that hot). I had to park with the hood open for 20 minutes to let the heat out of the engine compartment, then all was fine again. I haven't had to do that since I opened the hood vents.
