When I removed my rear steel bumper I dont recall having that bracket on there. I can't say for sure but I'm almost positive I did not have that.

Maybe because mine is a Sahara altitude ? And it’s an extra support ? Since the plastic spare tire valley/indent on plastic has no support. Maybe they installed that ! And now after installing the steel bumper the bottom 2 holes do not have a place to be threaded on to. I gotta figure out how to slide in a bit so I can use a bolt Good times

I removed the center bracket and it popped in. Now I’m having a weird fitment issue of the plastic end caps. The Sahara plastic bumper end cap extensions line up with the rear fender flares but can not mount as they are slightly different. The Steel bumper end cap extension for. But come short by about 2 inches and will not line up with the rear flares ! Bummer … i hate calling dealers. But guess I will Tomrrow

I’ve searched the forum and can’t pinpoint if anyone here posted the same issue

That's a support that sits under the plastic bumper to be stepped on. It can go.

I replaced mine with a Go Rhino Rockline and pulled it.

You need Rubicon high fender flares to match the body line of the steel bumper.

Are the steel bumper end caps the same as the plastic bumper end caps? If so, shouldn't he be able to reuse his Sahara end caps and have it still match his fenders?

I have the steel bumper end caps they are short. I removed the plastic bumper end caps and they sit abiut 1/2” passed the flare … I’m sure there is a solution

the plastic bumper end caps on the Sahara from what I see has a base that screws on to the same location as all bumpers. But the outer cover/end cap sits on the base portion with tabs and 3 white square clips ….
im looking forward in figuring this out. It’s interesting

Ok. So this is for anyone who’s wanting/looking for the rear steel bumper conversion (Mopar) from plastic and the issues of the end caps not fitting or lining up or too short
So. Now my conversion is on the 22 Sahara Altitude.
Keep the Sahara end caps from the plastic end caps

keep the steel bumper end caps I.e. Rubicon

since I’m still working on it as I write this. I will upload photos in the morning !

no Alteration need to be done to the Sahara end caps. You will only use the end caps and not the base behind the end caps which bolt and clip onto your existing plastic bumper

now. The shorter Rubicon end caps
You will cut the C shaped ends it has 3 main cut outs which mount on the steel bumper brackets

you will fuse the cut out portion to the ears of the end caps of the Sahara pieces. Left and Right (marked with LH and RH )
