I have a 23' jl rubicon 2 dr. with a 2"mopar lift. This setup works for me....until I load it up with gear for a trip. The rear sags a bit with a load. I'm thinking of replacing the rear springs. Anyone that has done this do you have recommendations? What brand of springs, 3 or 3.5" or?

If you can find a good deal on them, I would probably start with Mopar 2" lift coil springs made for the 4xe. They are designed for extra weight.

Some manufacturers make springs for added weight. JKS is one of them.

What is the percentage of time loaded vs unloaded? Will adding an extra inch-1.5 in the rear and a touch heavier spring be an issue for the 95% of driving you actually do?

Probably loaded up 40% of the time. I don't if a heavier spring (1-1.5" lift) will be an issue, that's why I'm asking if anyone has any experience doing this.

Almost every lift kit manufacturer recommends stepping up 1 height in the rear if you are commonly loaded so yea thats going to be the way to go. I wouldnt mix Mopar springs with aftermarket springs necessarily unless you reach out to the spring manufacturer because a lot of them are 2-3 weight springs and not sure how they would interact.

After trying 4 different set of springs including Metalcloak. I settled on 4.5 EVO Plush ride springs with fox 2.5 shocks.
I just spent a week at EJS 26 in Moab and not once did I feel a hard bottoming out even coming back down from Top Of The World.
Off road I adjust the large shock nob three clicks in and I am good to go.
For me this is the perfect set up. Rides more like a dirt bike suspension not like a harsh F450.

I bought mine used. It has a 2” lift and they put airbags in the rear coils. Not sure why. Probably for towing or heavy loads.

Along with more HD springs in the rear, you might consider these. That's what I'm using.

23 JLU Willys XR 2.0T towing package, plastic front bumper.

Front factory XR springs with a 1/2" spacer, rear Clayton 2.5" springs. Jeep has a slight rake, but when connected to my trailer (which has a heavy tongue weight) it levels out pretty well with the springs alone.

Were you running the fox 2.5 with the different coils?
What do you think was the biggest difference between Evo and metal cloak coils?

I’m looking to upgrade my RC coils with Fox2.0 shocks and have been teetering between evo and MC.

Thanks!

I plaid around with it so much it is hard to remember exactly what order I made changes.
I do remember I only had the MC springs on for a week before I switched them out.
The MC where to harsh.
I did start with EVO 2.5 and then 3.5 and now 4.5
I also tried Rubicon springs put was not happy with them ether.
I had fox 2.0 for awhile put with my heavy bead locks and 38'' tires I needed more shock control.
Fox 2.0 work well with a lighter jeep and lighter tires put I really like the fact that I can adjust the 2.5 and you can also have them tuned to your jeep.
I put the fox 2.5 on after I settled for EVO 4.5 springs.
I put the Fox 2.0 on my wife's stock Rubicon with 35'' tires and they work great.
