So, I’m looking to bump up. Should I just buy the HD Rubicon calipers and mounts? I’m not tracking this car ?, so Baer or Alcon seems like overkill, but I could be wrong.
I’m also not sure about rotors and pads once I upgrade. Are drilled/slotted rotors actually an issue?

Just ask @cosine he knows!
I'd try some Hawk LTS pads first, won't cost much (about $70 per axle) and you should get a noticeable improvement in stopping distance, probably dust up a bit more but a very good tradeoff.

What are you looking to gain?

39's on an M186?
I sure hope you didn't just slap on 39's without doing anything else to support them.
No, UD44 recycles the existing brakes so I kept them temporarily. I’ll be replacing the outer knuckles and balljoints soon so it’s a logical time to do the brakes too.

I’m worried my Sport brakes will be overworked by my 39’s. Double danger because I drive a manual so overworking the fluid can cause me clutch issues.
If you want more braking force, you can get a significant increase in friction by changing to a high performance pad. The downsides are lots of black dust, and increased rotor wear. The upside is better braking and cheap as a modification.

If you have an issue of high speed/downhill highway brake fade, high performance pads will get you a good improvement, but if that's not enough, larger rotors will add more margin. Try pads first if budget is a priority. If not, get D44s or D60s and bigger brakes for those 39s.

It’s on a UD44 already, they just don’t come with upgraded brakes. I’m not having any fade issues or anything, but I also leave lots of space since I drive stick.
Sounds like I’ll just upgrade pads and/or rotors when they wear out.

To jump to 39s, I wouldn't just change pads. You need bigger brakes.

I bought Teraflex Delta brakes for my 37s. I haven't installed them yet, so I can't comment on them.
