Just ordered a '21 Sport Altitude in white and I'm curious why others decided to buy this package with all of the other trim packages offered by Jeep?

I have a 2021 in Sting Gray. I landed on the Sport Altitude for a few reasons. When I priced out a comparably built Sport S it was only $600 more. For that $600 I got the Black 18" wheels with ATs, Sahara Suspension, HD Brakes (always nice to have better brakes), the blacked out trim, and the black grille inserts were nice. When I priced out the Sahara the same way it was +$2k for chrome inserts I hated, rear AC plug, and wheels I wasn't a fan of.

It was an absolute no brainer for me. Even if I swap to a Rubi suspension, I still have the better brakes and the blackout package I really like

Stingray was my first choice but the rest of the family wanted white. I have to admit that the white with all black trim/ wheels/ top has grown on me. I've read that the Altitude package has the same suspension as the Sahara but I haven't seen any more details, but I'm assuming the same gas shocks and springs, whatever they are? Does HD brakes mean just bigger rotors/ pads? Again, I haven't been able to find any specific details?

I went with the Altitude when I couldn't order the black wheels and AT tires on the Sport S. I really do not like the standard silver wheels (or AS tires for that matter) and didn't really want to pay ~$1K for machined granite crystal (meh). I also wanted the hard top and it came as standard with package, as well as the head liner which is a nice bonus. I opted for the Alpine upgrade so I figured the head liner would only improve the sound quality with the Alpine system and reduce overall road noise (at least that's my hope).

One thing that worries me is I just saw a picture of a new Sport Altitude on a dealers lot and it had the AS tires! I'm really hoping that Jeep hasn't switched to the AS, as standard, because of a shortage of black AT's. That would P--- me off.

The way I spec'd mine out it made the most sense and has the blacked out badges and emblems and the dash overlay is a nice dark gray color. Add in the hard top with tinted windows and liner and it just made most sense to me.

I ordered mine 7/2 and picked it up from dealer last night 8/27. 4door Unlimited Sport Altitude, Sting Gray, Alpine radio upgrade, Tow Package, Tech group, Convenience Group, LED headlights, Cold Weather, Anti Spin Diff, Selec Trac Full Time 4wd, Auto transmission. It DID come with all season tires but they will work til next year when I upgrade to rubicon take offs.

For the brakes, I believe the discs are larger. For the suspension, I THINK it's just the shocks, but they're a tuned a bit more for "comfort". I know it's a Jeep but mine rides substantially better than my stock WRX.

I believe the 2020 Altitudes came with All Seasons. Also possible they swapped the tires with a Sahara to make a sale? Regardless, for the price difference the styling and the upgraded brakes were enough to sway me. Plus not having to replace wheels and tires on a brand new vehicle! I got the Dual Top and only had the hard top on for a few weeks. Soft top is definitely noticeably louder. I'm interested to see what my thoughts are on the hard top this winter. Though, I don't think the Alpine needs much help. Lots of folks say it's terrible, etc. But it has great bass, I can hear it clearly at 55 with the doors off and top down, and I didn't have to go through the effort to install an aftermarket system.

The other thing I noticed the other day, and I'm not sure whether it's an Altitude thing or a 2021 thing, but mine is prewired for the proximity key. Earlier Sport S/Altitude models had to have an additional wire (in addition to the harnesses) ran to the door harness. Mine has that wire so the kits available are plug and play.

Enjoy!

Congratulations and good luck with the new Altitude! You got it well optioned for your neck of the woods. In an attempt to keep the cost more manageable (which was very hard), I only added the AT, tech group (7" display) and the Alpine upgrade. My splurge was the Alpine. I had talked to a couple stereo shops and both said to upgrade the base radio with decent components would be $2500 - 3000 min. so I figured I'd take a chance with the Alpine.
Less than 8 weeks from order entry to delivery....I hope I'm that lucky. My dealer is saying 8 - 12 weeks but could be longer!

I got the Sport Altitude because it has the blacked out rims, badges, interior trim, and grill. But it also came standard with a hard top which is what I wanted. Not to mention as other have said the better brakes and suspension parts. I did not want a Sahara and could not afford a Rubicon. This was the best option since I just missed being able to order the 80th anniversary by a few days. I love the looks of this trim.

Thanks for the information and feedback, especially regarding the Alpine. I was going back and forth on it, mainly due to the cost but I also really did not want to get involved with after market upgrade if the base system was a disappointment. Early 2021 Altitudes had AT's as standard but just recently the the order guide lists AS's as standard and that's what I'm seeing on new Altitudes delivered locally. I much prefer the look of the AT but that can be easily fixed down the road , literally, once the OEM tires wear down.

Interesting! You can probably find a set of Sahara take off tires for cheap. Good luck and enjoy!

When I decided to trade in my '15 JKU Sahara, I didn't have any plan in mind for which JLU model I wanted. I had a list of features/options that I wanted in a new JLU and I worked with my salesperson to find a vehicle that met those requirements. It turned out that there was a '20 JLU Sport Altitude in the color I wanted along with all the features/options I required. A price was agreed to, a trade in value for my JKU agreed to, the paperwork was completed and I drove home with my new Sport Altitude that same day.
