Might as well spend the extra $200 something and get a matching wheel, since you're buying 5 new tires anyway. But that's just me.

What are "grandpa " wheel by they way? The silver aluminum ones or the black steel? If you have the silver ones, get them powder coated for $400-500, If you have the black steel wheels, they look cool with bigger tires on them. All factory Wrangler wheels, with the exception of Xtreme Recon and Altitude models are 17x7.5 +44 offset. Even the base silver aluminum and the black steel wheels.

Another thing you can do is get a set of 5 brand new Rubicon wheels and tires that someone took off to put bigger ones on. They usually sell for around $1200 a set or so, depending on where you live.

Oh yeah, the offset - best get the matching one and get a better offset wheel so you can upgrade tires without wheel spacers.....
Forgot that part - silly me
If you get big tires and you needed the bigger offset wheels then your spare wouldn't fit when you went to use it
fyi - wheel spacers work but just getting the right offset is free if changing wheels anyways and are def better than the spacers - you may put a lift on and 35's or 37's and you'll be set

"grandpa" tires are basically black rims with Michelin 245/75. I like your idea though! I think after reading all the replies I'll just purchase the 5th rim. The last time I had a jeep was 20+ years ago.

Is this what your looking for? Could always stuff it under the seat and do a spare tire delete

If you have an upcoming off-road event near you and you are willing to wait until then , you can save a lot of money. The sales tents have great deals. I saved $100 each on mine buying directly from the distributor. Paid $269 (tax free) for my moto metals. Tire deals can be made there too. They will ship to your house. Just a thought.

This is called "getting cheap at the last minute"
New Cadillac owners used to die of heat inside their brand new Caddies as they would cheap out at the last minute and not order air conditioning but also didn't want to look cheap so they'd always have the windows up regardless of how many hundreds of degrees it was getting inside the new car.
Why the F would you buy 4 out of 5 wheels for your Jeep anyways ? ?
Hmm— you remember Caddies without standard AC. Did you get your annual AARP statement yet, got mine a couple days ago. ?

If you want the most life out of your tires, you will be doing 5-tire rotations. (Recommended)

Go with the matching spare wheel & tire :)
Incorrect. You do not get more life out of a tire. You simply put more miles on your vehicle before you have to buy 5 new tires instead of 4 new tires,

You spent a lit of money on a Jeep. Don't cheap out on 1 wheel.

Ya, but with 4 whhel rotations you end up with a old , aged out dry rotted tire if you keep the vehicle long enough. At best a mismatched spare or one you never used when you go up in size.

Always get a matching wheel. The only exception to a different tire IMO is if you have a large tire size with a big width and want a spare the same height but not as wide.

I’d recommend a spare delete before having a spare with a different wheel. Tires now are better than 20-30 years ago, so if you’re buying quality you can have a lot of confidence with 4 and no spare.

Exactly what I have but my Nitto donut is over an inch shorter but much thinner. It will get me home although I prefer putting it on the front.

Tire delete is not smart. My TJR on 33's has a 31 spare. My JLR on 38's has a 33" spare. My LJR on 43's has a donut spare, a Nitto 42x13.5R20 on non-beadlock. It's the biggest spare that will fit in my spare carrier. My JLR has beadlocks and factory wheel/tire for a donut spare. My 43" Trep stickies are on 17" beadlocks. If I get a flat, the young guys will be changing the tire. Even when I got a flat on 38's, I had the young guys change it for me. In my garage using a square shovel to lift the tire I can easily change it.,

I wheel with a bunch of spare delete's and it's a PITA loaning them a spare.

All 3 of my rigs are dedicated wheelers so I just need to get home and work on a full size spare. Well, sometimes I drive the TJR to the beach when it's been raining for a couple days and I can't charge the EV for free.

You spent a lit of money on a Jeep. Don't cheap out on 1 wheel.
Don't cheap out on a winch, get a $3K platinum. Don't cheap out on shocks, get $10K ORI's. I could go on and on. I went cheap on all my rigs and they're all very capable and functional - well except for the LJR, it's got the best of everything, Platinum, ORI's, two transfer cases, ....
