I'm looking at going to 35s on my JLUR. Is it OK to keep the stock 33 as a spare? Not to run, but just to limp home on in 2wd.

What's stopping you from getting the fifth? Kinda like fumbling at the 5 yard line.

Guess I'm not much of a mechanic but I don't understand the logic here. In 2wd with an open diff what difference does it make if one side rotates faster than the other? The reason to keep the spare is the first dealer I took it to for the LOF did not do a 5 tire rotation as I requested and the second dealer measured tread depth and didn't use the spare either so it's new. And I'm a cheap bastard. I full understand not using a smaller tire if there is a chance of using 4wd.

Just ask @cosine he knows!
If you had a true open diff you'd be ok for a shorter limp to the shop, but a LSD complicates things. I have an open diff Sport S and I keep my stock spare when I run my larger tires, but I switch to my 5 small stock tire setup for long road trips.

Is possible to use on the front axle, for short distances, but disaster if used on the rear axle, especially over 20 MPH--

Get the fifth --
