RC products can be hit or miss, the spacer kit seems to get mainly positive feedback. I'd spend time and research the various options and pick what works best for your needs, especially since this Jeep won't be a long term ride :)
That’s great to hear! Depending on how long it takes us to install the lift we might take it off when we take the Jeep back. We actually still have the original headlight and taillights but those are such a pain?

Looks great! What size tires did you have then? My main goal is to gain clearance so that’ll be great! Now I know the height suspension lift kits are listed as are based off of rubi suspension. Is that the same for spacer lifts? Meaning the 2” would be more like 2.5” or 3”?
Those are the factory tires for the Rubicon, so 33". A spacer lift is still retaining your factory springs, so a 2"lift is definitely only a 2 inch lift. A lift with new springs can vary slightly because factory springs are different.

Good to know! Thanks again!

Right?! I honestly thought maybe for a second but I can buy the spacer kit, few tools we might need and rent a space at an install garage for less than $750! I even have lifetime free alignment at Firestone since I paid the original $200. I’ve put in the headlights, brake lights and wheel spacers but I wasn’t as confident messing with the suspension until now. Thanks for the input! I’ll let my dad know to keep a weekend free :CWL: and I’ll break the news to the salesman.
I also can’t help but post a pic of Calypso so far!

Two guys and a couple yardsticks and a tape measure you can do the alignment.

I know is none of my business.. but if you are planning on going through the trouble and expense.. then why not spend $1000 more and get a real suspension with springs / shock absorbers + hardware? ... many people get spacers just to later uninstall it and get a full suspension kit..
I thought of that also but according to other Jeep owners my springs are already Heavy Duty from my Diesel engine.

The springs are one of the cheapest components in a lift kit.

Install is ~3hr. I paid 4hr labor @ $100/hr for them to install my spacer lift and Mopar LCAs (as I couldn't do it myself as I just had shoulder surgery).

Either their labor rate is high or they have estimated a couple extra hours into the install.

Cause that's $1,000 that could go somewhere else.

If you're going light build and 35s you don't really need a full lift kit to still get some good articulation out of the stock Rubi springs.

OP.

I'd do the following:

Rubicon springs + 1inch spacers.
Bilstein 2~3inch lift shocks.
Mopar lift LCA control arms.

That's a great setup for daily driving and offroading that's about as much as you'd like to spend. I am running those shocks with rubi springs and my Jeep is very capable. Look at the flex on my profile pic. No rub with 33s. I will be installing 1inch spacers sometime soon.
