It's a simple clamp type of LED light that is USB rechargeable and really bright. I haven't tested the battery endurance, but if as advertised, it's a really handy light to have on trips where you camp or get caught out or have to work on your rig at night. Small enough to have a few.

I don't really like having keys in my pocket (so I bought something with the biggest fob out there, HA) and I never carried a keychain. But, I found this little pocket light and I've carried it ever since. I like it so much, I bought several of them as stocking stuffers. It can be plugged into a USB port for charging, the magnet is very powerful, and the light is perfect. It would be a good addition to the larger light you posted.

I just ordered the Anylight, thanks for posting. It's hard to find a good light that has a clip. My magnetic lights never seem to have a good attachment point.

Useful that would be for sure... Nice find..

? for you.... kind of off the wall ? .... Does the offering have a bad smell to it. A really unpleasant, stinky, overpowering odor to it ?

Why do I ask this.... Well, very recently, I had a company send me two free goodies to try/eval (Value $200+) and review.. One item was a Jump Charger/Air Compressor/ LED Light Combo tool and the other was a Battery Powered Air Duster.

Anyway, both items were Manufactured in China. Both have a really unpleasant, overpowering stinky odor to them. Yes, I left them out in the Sun / to the air but they, after more then a week still stink.

Both stink so bad I can not keep them in the vehicle.

Not sure how to tell the company that sent them to me the products that the products are real nice but stink so bad I cannot keep them in the vehicle where they are meant to be kept for those times you need them... :(

I have one of the products I believe you’re referring to with no weird smells. I see this in Amazon reviews for a variety of overseas products so I know it’s a thing. Any thoughts on the source of the smell…either the environment they’re stored or shipped in, or different chemicals used in manufacturing there that are off gassing?

Per AI:

The "Chinese plastic odor" is a strong, chemical, tangy smell from certain mass-produced plastic items, caused by volatile organic compounds (VOCs), residual solvents, or unreacted chemicals from the manufacturing process. It's often found on cheap imports and can be persistent, but airing it out, using baking soda, vinegar soaks, or even washing with soap and hot water can help reduce or eliminate the smell over time, though some say it's nearly impossible to fully remove from heavily affected items.

What causes the smell?
  • Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs): Byproducts of manufacturing that escape the plastic over time.
  • Residuals: Unreacted monomers or solvents trapped during heating and molding.
  • Manufacturing Practices: Sometimes factories use fans to air out parts, but the smell persists in many products, often due to cost-cutting or process variations.
How to get rid of the odor:
  • Air it out: Place items in a well-ventilated area for several days.
  • Baking Soda: Mix with water, let it sit in the item (or sprinkle on/around) for hours or overnight.
  • Vinegar Soak: Soak items in a vinegar and water solution.
  • Soap & Hot Water: Wash thoroughly with dish soap and hot water.
  • Sunlight: Letting items sit in the sun can help dissipate smells (but be careful with heat-sensitive plastics).

Health and Safety:
  • The smell can be off-putting and concerning.
  • For food-related items, chemicals like BPA and phthalates are a potential worry, especially when heated, so careful cleaning and selection of food-safe plastics is important.

It passed the sniff test. Nothing I could detect. But I know what you mean about china plastics. I bought a small weight set for my office at work long ago and it stunk up the office.

@roaniecowpony

I have had pretty good luck with product offerings manufactured in China. I have lots of China manufactured items on my JL.

Yes, the first day or 3 they often have a tad bit of an odor to them buy they eventually gas out/air out and then do not smell.

Just these last two offerings stink so bad... and as I mentioned I have been airing out / leaving them in sunshine for 14 days or so and they still stink... maybe they don't stink as bad but still bad enough where I could not leave them in the JL, 24/7, 365..

In regard to the air duster..... well, the air output on it when it is working also stinks stinks..
Funny, I have a similar air duster from the same company.... a different model and that does not stink...

Anyway, guess it's the luck of the draw if you get a Chinese produced item that stinks or not..

Nice find! I love a good clip light. As a nearsighted mechanic, I have found myself with a borderline obsessive collection of lights for almost any occasion. My favorites happen to be the Milwaukee usb series. These have a removable battery that can be used in a variety of the same series lights, but can also be plugged into a usb for charging. They’re not the least expensive option, but I’ve had mine for many years and the quality of light is excellent.

How much research would it have take to come up with that much information before the internet?!

I have two Defiant cylindrical LED lights that have five different magnets on them, and then a hanger wire so that you can put it on a hook if you want to. I got at Lowe's a good number of years ago and they are pretty freaking handy. At the time I was kind of annoyed because it was like $27 for the pair when I got to check out with them, but having them still like 6 years later, totally worth the money!!

They hold a good charge too. I use them daily if not weekly, And I only ever charge them maybe once every 2 months.

The only real downside of them being that placement for usage relies heavily on a magnetic surface, and as much aluminum is in our Jeeps, it kind of makes it a hassle to figure out which place I can put it in the engine bay that it won't fall down inside, but will also give me the lighting I need.

The clamp style is not a bad idea though. Would definitely help me out a bunch in the engine bay when I can't find a good location to mount my magnetic ones to!!

Yeah, this all started with me when I thought about hardwiring a light under the hood. Then I was thinking about a light for the liftgate when I fix dinner on the swing gate table. It struck me that I don't like wiring stuff all that much, so this was the answer. Works good for my BBQ too.
