Sadly, today was put-the-Jeep-back-together day (I really like top down and doors off).

The driver‘s side window is not going on at all and the tab that snaps into the pillar never stays clicked because the window seems to be too short. I put the tab into the pillar clip and my husband held it in place while seating the tabs and it pops out every time. I put the window in the hall bath with a space heater to try to stretch it out.

Here’s a pic:

This window has never seated well and now it’s impossible.

Any ideas?

When I put mine on, I start from that tab and work my way forward. So the procedure I use is line the tab up lightly, then lightly place the green tabs into the channel (starting at the very back, rear of the black tab itself. In your picture, the farthest place to the left that you see your punk'n) Once those 2 are lined up, give the back pillar a good smack from the outside and it seats it all into place. Then work your way forward along the bottom channel until that's all in place to the front, finishing with the vertical channel along the B pillar.

Make sure the green plastic pieces below the back tab are inserted into the channel properly, that is super important and makes all the difference. It doesn't appear that you seated yours in the channel at all.

Thanks for your response. I started from the pillar and worked my way up.

It does appear that the green tab isn’t properly positioned in this photo. I know it was in the previous attempts (and there were many!).

I’ll be sure to check that when I try again tomorrow.

You need to pull the lower corner tab out first. It needs to tuck in the fender groove. In your picture it is jammed in the gap. That is why the corner is not setting in the clip.

If you mean the tab should go like this, my drivers side has always lined up like just yours, crooked.

My drivers side window has always been too short. It has never stretched out. Everything seems solid once the rear window is in place.

It needs to be warmed up. Putting windows on in the summer is easy, winter is hard.

Also, I've always found that the first time back on after they have been off for all summer is hardest and just what you show. If you can get the rear window to seat, it'll all stretch back out after a day in the sun.

I put the window in the bathroom again with the space heater for a few hours and that helped. The clip and tab still aren’t lined up (still look like the photo). The rear window was tight but I hope that helps keep things together.

The passenger side rear window blew out earlier this year and it was $400 to replace :swear:. I don’t want to do that again.

Have you 100% confirmed that green tab is in the correct position? Your picture has it tucked up. I had that issue when I first put my soft top on, I didn't realize there was an "extra" section of the green tab that needs to be flipped down.

My process is:
Slide window on the top rail
Insert plastic bar making sure the green tab that's in like with that is flipped down
Insert the bottom green tab, starting at the plastic bar and working towards the front of the vehicle
Insert the vertical green tab along the back doors
seat the velcro

Rinse & repeat for the other side.

Then I put the back window in, slide the bottom bar on and latch it, then do the sides of the back window

i have this problem on my driver window. that same section, the green tab got bent and doesnt want to go in properly so i have to fight with it. been trying to straighten it back out. its like in a w shape. ive even considered cutting into it but afraid to pull the trigger, er knife. i thought about buying a new window but for $400 no thanks! its always a fight to put the windows back on. the rear window never wants to stretch to both sides. i have to use all my might. my wife would never ben able to do it. its worst when it rains and im out there rushing trying to get it on and its fighting me.

The green tab has to tuck in the body groove. The black clip will seat properly if you get the green out of there

The green tab is properly tucked in. it wasn’t in that photo, but is now. The top was especially difficult to get on this fall.

I‘ve driven on the freeway a few times and so far all is well :like:.
