I have the premium soft top as my only top on my JLUR. First time I've tried to put the top all the way back it felt like the track was binding. Boy was I wrong! Turns out the curved strut brace that goes over the sport bar on the driver side bound up and BENT. So cautionary take to soft top owners!

You sure it was unlocked??
I'm pretty sure it was unlocked and even then that still a valid point for anyone who has a soft top to make sure that everything is unlocked and everything is moving freely before you tug on anything.

You would not believe how many things I break trying to muscle them into submission. Anyway, it is good advice since the top is a new design.

Had a similar ā€œbindingā€ feeling the other day and thought it was unlocked, it was actually shipped unlocked so I had locked it. I didnā€™t force anything though, once it bound up the first thing I checked was the locking mechanism. I didnā€™t pay attention to the symbols just pushed them the opposite direction since it was the first time.

We tried the lock, flipped it a bunch of times then left it on the unlocked position. It was still binding, so I do feel there was an over tight issue of some kind. The part has been ordered, just have to wait for the repair now.

Maybe a defective locking mechanism?

I have thought of this, and when the part comes i will tell the garage to be careful and check the locking mechanism as they put the top back for the first time after the fix. If it is, I will have to wait AGAIN to fully use my top down function xD

Alright, so there are two cables that get pulled when you pull the lever in the back to get the top to fully slide back. Only one works on mine. They have the part ordered but of course being so new its back order. Looks like I dont get full top back this year :P

@JR Quimby so this same exact thing happened to my premium soft top today was it hard for you to get the dealer to fix it? I switched back to my hard top tonight since the soft top isnā€™t working. Did they give you and ETA as to when the part will come in?

The part became available and was fixed under warranty without any issue. In your the case the only thing I would be weary of is that you took the top off the Jeep. I'm not sure how they can look at it and conclude that is what needs to be fixed if the top isn't even on the rig, they will probably give you trouble in that situation.

Do you know the parts they ordered for you?
I do not.It looks to me like both pull cables are part of the entire left/right, and pull handle assembly together.

I went to the dealer today and they ordered the necessary parts and was pleasantly surprised the parts werenā€™t on backorder
