I'm considering buying a used soft top and have been researching parts lists and install instructions. I found what I was looking for but was surprised to see this.

For you all that switch out tops each season or whatever, do you torque these bolts? Finding a torque wrench that even has 8.8 ft. lbs. is hard enough without spending 100 bucks or more. Thanks for your replies.

Usually just give it a 1/2 "ugga" and call it good. I take those off when I run my half doors and windows out for a cleaner look.

I just installed mine and besides the mice that had made a nest in the folds in the packaging... it was a breeze. I don't have a torque wrench. I am amazed at the folks that engineered this thing. I have had a Wrangler with a soft top since 1978 and the old stuff was like throwing a blanket over a frame!

Thanks. I'm looking forward to having it for the summers in GA. Last year was just too hot to have to hard top off during the day and it was too much trying to plan around rain and hot afternoons. Hopefully the new top will make it easier to go back and forth between on and off.

I'm in Nashville; I get it! I think that these go up and down so easy it is easy to dodge around the weather. I always think that the ease of top removal is what separates the Jeep from everything else. I also travel with two bungee cords that "tighten" up the bundle on the back when the top is down. It just seems to me to help maximize visibility and hold everything together. Enjoy the summer!

If you have a bikini top on I guess you have to take it off to put the soft top on ? I hate to take that off It's too hot here for my dog now in the summertime he overheated two years ago and he goes everywhere. So I need to get the soft top but cuz the rainy and stuff you never know it's coming but the problem is isn't it loud with the soft top on and can you go through a regular car wash Will they drive the car washes or does it tear the top soft top up and don't they leak in the rain

How long did it take you to put the soft top on looks like it's a lot of work putting those rails and stuff on

I hate to say that I really do not remember. I do remember that it was easy. Most of the components are very easy to find where they go and install. The last part was actually attaching the top which I would say is much easier with two people. It was myself and my girlfriend Who is not mechanically inclined, but had no problem mirroring the brackets and the final attachment of the top.Who is not mechanically inclined, but had no problem mirroring the brackets and the final attachment of the top. I know they sell replacement tops for old frames at some age in the future if they’re needed. This replacement must be more difficult than the initial change out. Once it’s on, it is easy. I would say two minutes to take it down and 5 to 10 minutes to put it back up.
