- 2021 Jeep Wrangler
This has been an ongoing issue with the soft top of my 2021 Jeep Wrangler. For the 2 years, the soft top has been progressively detaching from the metal frame and like other have mentioned the fabric holding it together has just disintegrated, making it difficult to raise and lower the roof as designed. It has now completely separated from the frame, rendering the top impossible to manage unless having a second person to assist.
I purchased the 125,000 mile extended bumper to bumper warranty specifically to help protect against issues such as this, however, when I consulted my Jeep dealership when the problem first arose, I was told that the problem is not covered under warranty. I again contacted another Jeep dealership about the problem to try to rectify the issue before my warranty was up and was told the same thing. Not a warranty issue. This is especially concerning given that the issue has been present from the start and stems from the use of cheaply made, inadequate materials connecting the canvas top to the frame.
This is not a case of ordinary wear and tear, it is clearly a defect in the productās design and construction. A Jeep Wranglerās convertible soft top is one of its defining features, and its failure after such a short period of ownership is not only extremely disappointing but compromises the vehicleās function, safety, and overall value.
I wish I could find a solution.
@JeepCares - tagging Jeep caresā¦.maybe they can provide some insight as this is obviously a problem many Jeep Wrangler owners with factory soft tops are having.
