We're getting a freak snow storm at the beach in North Carolina! I don't know if I've ever seen this question asked before, if so, I wasn't paying attention because I didn't think it would ever effect me. The storm isn't supposed to be over until late tomorrow. If we were to get the predicted 6 - 8 inches of snow, would it hurt the soft top on a 2023 JL? Looking for people with this kind of experience.

Thanks,
SBB

I never measured but have had plenty on top of mine B4. NW Iowa here. If you're worried, go out once or twice and push it off. As often as you can. Are you in a position to be able to do that?

Assuming with the cold that it's a lighter, more powdery snow, 6-8" shouldn't be an issue. When it's safe to do so, brush off what you can and you should be fine.

I've seen soft top Jeeps in the Lake Tahoe area that have 2' of snow on the soft top with no problems. 6" to 8" will be no problem at all.

Helps if it’s the premium top (twill version) over the other material.

My standard (sailcloth) soft top has never had an issue with any amount or weight of snow on it and it's had a lot being parked outside for the almost 8 years of ownership.

The only issue was due to not clearing the snow off right away. During the day there was some melting followed by refreezing at night. Water seeping and refreezing under the driver's door weather seal resulted in a water leak year round.

It will melt off quickly. I wouldn´t bother with it, but a broom can be used to gently sweep it off, too. Soft tops melt off quickly once the heat gets flowing.

Here, it is so cold (high yesterday was 17) that it is struggling to melt off. But it causes no issues. It just makes noise when I start it up and crank up the heater fan as the top expands like a balloon. It makes a crackling sound. LOL.

It is negative 3 this morning and I´m going to drive it to church. It should make some interesting sounds when I first fire it up.

The top is surprisingly resistant to a weight load spread across the top.

Snow at 32 deg F is many times heavier than snow at 10 deg, so pay attention to that.

Not to worry it is a Jeep. I had a garage door close on my soft top, snapped the door in half. It's a jeep
