Get a high quality 2 stage snow blower. Avoid the 3 stage. I bought a 3 stage and the snow packs in front of the center auger. A total gimmick.

Curious Paul:

I see the plow can be rotated 180 degrees. Do you tend to angle the plow away from the vehicle, pull your vehicle into the driveway (engine first) pre-snow fall and then back out pushing the snow, or are you more inclined to angle the plow towards the vehicle, having backed into the driveway pre-snow fall, and drive forward pulling snow from behind...or maybe it's conditions specific. TIA.
Sorry, I don't have any snow removal equipment. I live an hour from Charlotte, which saw its first measurable snowfall (dusting) in three years around two weeks ago.

Just did some "window shopping" to see if there were any inexpensive options for the OP.

Yep. That was my instinctual response after seeing that "feature" appear on the box store Cub Cadets. It's also the experience of several early adopters, as mentioned on the snowblower forum. All marketing, no substance.

Some designs simply don't need to be improved upon.

Subarus can't make it through 2' of snow? When I had my Evo (think Subie WRX STi equivalent) for over a decade I never had my driveway plowed and just brute-forced my way through and/or over any heavy snow. Whether going forward or backwards, the crazy little low-slung thing never once got stuck with just all-seasons, though sometimes it took a few tries to get up a steep grade when it was heavily packed snow and ice with deep ruts.

Might require a certain level of comfort by whoever's driving, but I'm thinking your Subarus are more of a beast in the snow than you're giving them credit for.

My Evo was probably the best vehicle I've owned for snow. Had a Robi spec/coilover suspension and a carbon lip so lower than OEM. My kids loved going out and doing donuts in that car. Lexat20 from EvoM.

It's interesting to see a video of a Subaru being hooned (as the guy in the video explicitly concedes) without the engine departing this Mortal Coil. There's no shortage of videos showing that exact outcome as those poor engines are revved to the moon by their rube owners while spinning around in a Target parking lot.

I kept mine at stock height, but added a carbon fiber replica Ralliart front lip spoiler, which worked surprisingly well for plowing snow. Think my username was AFD over at the EvoM forums. You might remember @Kracka who's also over here in JL land now.

Lol, there's nothing but videos of WRX and Evo turbo 4-bangers being hoon'd, drifted, raced and built far past their intended design.

Never really found a need to hit high RPMs too often myself, but these things really don't seem to have any issues bouncing off the rev limiter for extended periods and such abuse is likely mild compared to how they were used in actual rally sport competitions when equipped with anti-lag systems.

I'm honestly surprised that anyone was even interested in buying mine at 100k miles, since everyone knows these vehicles are driven hard by most anyone that buys them.

My Evo IX GSR on snow tires was practically unstoppable in Minnesota winters!

My Simplicity 2-stage was an absolute beast in South Dakota winters with insane snow drifts. Cub Cadets in general are total Chinese junk these days with terrible engines that are mostly unrepairable.

Simplicity was my choice due to legit local dealers, made in USA steel construction, and use of B&S engines.

I also bought a Simplicity single-stage for quick cleanups and walkway duty.
