Every once in a while when I either go into drive or reverse, I'll hear a clunk. Sometimes its loud, and sometimes nothing.

Does you wrangler do the same thing?

I get a clunk if I am parked on incline and the engine is a fast idle during this cold weather when shifting from Park into Drive or Reverse. Give it a few minutes to let the idle come down a little and no issues. Been doing it since it got cold out - last 3000 miles or so.

I believe this clunk is the drive-train components tensing up after sitting idle with no torque application. I use my parking brake so that might have to do with it as well. It was the same in my Ram 1500.

I get the same "CLunk" when shifting from P to R or D. SO if I just wait for a few seconds after starting engine will it still happen?

You'll still have slack in the drivetrain, so you'll still get it. It won't be as dramatic at 800 RPMs instead of 1100 though.

Is it a problem, I mean should I go to dealer and check it out? Or is this relatively normal?

It seems normal to me, it was the same in my Ram 1500, and that was the only other auto I've owned. Didn't notice it in my manuals.

Take that into the dealer so they have a record of it. They're going to tell you nothing it wrong but traditionally when I've seen it the torque converter goes out after a while. Make sure to go back a few times again and they write up paperwork on it.

most cars do this. more noticeable when parked on an incline of decline and the drive fails to use the parking break that was intended to keep the vehicles weight off the drive line and keep it in one place. i get a bad clunk in my 76 gmc when i dont use the parking break. then again that is 40 plus years old. try making sure the PB is engaged fully before letting your foot of the brake while in park. this should help alot
