Our JKUR had the soft top. I don't think there's much, if any, difference in the open air feeling between that and our current one touch. The "roll bar" and soft top rails take up about the same real estate on either.

So far (5k miles) we've not suffered from the squeaking or rattles others have reported. I do prefer the hinged glass for easy access to the rear not to mention the maintenance issues inherant with the soft plastic windows.

If my budget dictated a full rag top I'd not hesitate but I really like our one touch. It's open much more often than our soft top ever was.

I've had the one touch roof for a full year now in Alberta Canada. Thought it might suck in the really cold winter. No issues at all. I guess its louder, but I've never noticed because I'm always playing music. I have however had my roof opened at least a couple times per month all winter. It's going to be May before anyone in my province gets their hard top off and by then I will have had 30 days with my roof open. This roof is amazing!!! Oh yeah and I haven't had any issues with squeaking at all.

I historically don't care for convertibles or sunroofs. So, when my partner talked me into getting my 2020 with a Sky One Touch, I reluctantly went along with her suggestion. I immediately ordered the sunshade on my Jeep. My partner has a Sunrider on her 2018 Jeep Sahara...which I'm not fond of. However, I love the Sky One Touch. Yes, there's a lot more road noise than the hardtop. But the payoff is awesome. With the sunshade on my SOT, even on sunny days, I can enjoy my Jeep with the top open The sunshade seems to deflect some of the wind that would ordinarily come inside the Jeep. I use the SOT far more than I have ever used any convertible, sunroof, or Sunrider.

No matter what, there will always be naysayers in life. No matter how awesome a product might be, there will always be those who can find something to complain about...even if they have never owned a Jeep with a SOT.

My partner likes the SOT in my Jeep so much, she is currently looking to trade in her 2018 Sahara for a 2020 Sahara with a SOT.
Hi, which sunshade didn’t you go with? How did I II mount it on the front? Any pictures by any chance? I have a SOT which I love but was thinking about this after a bad sunburn. lol.

I came directly from a Mustang GT convertible and have lifelong experience with Sun and Moon roofs.

Honestly, I love the SOT. The experience is 75% Vert, 25% huge Moonroof. The convenience of it more than makes up for the 25% missing element, IMHO.

If I lived in a hot climate year round, I'd be more tempted by the soft top. It would be a tough choice at that point.

And CJ2k14 is one of those who has obviously drank the Kool-Aid and making opinion sound like facts. I OWNED one, there IS history documented on issues. And yes I can afford one. In fact I paid cash for mine. Of course I now have all that cash back. Some people just have to make themselves sound important and knowledgeable while their head is stuck in the sand
Dude, you sound like an idiot! If that was truly the case, NO ONE would buy a Jeep because of ALL the historical issues with owning a Jeep or any auto for that matter and technology does change! I love mine and so far I have ZERO issues with my SOT! Kool Aid not needed!

I put on sunscreen first thing in the morning so that doesn't happen!

You can get sunshades for the SOT? Brand? Where from?

Have 800 miles on the Jeep so far, and my wife loves her sky one touch top. She has opened it up every day on her way home from work so far. I really hope we never have problems with it, but as of now, holy shit I am 100% sold on it. The convenience is ridiculous. The Wrangler has come a long way since my 2001 TJ......

I have owned the following tops on my Jeeps:
- JKU with softtop. Was nice, but a pain to remove rear/side windows all the time
- JKU with hard top. Was solid but a pain to remove the t-top panels all the time and store them
-JKU with hard top and Bestop sunrider. Was nice and convenient, but too loud and pricey.
- JLU with One Touch Sky Roof and to me it has been the best of both tops.

Do I have any rattles/issues with the new SOT top, sure but nothing any worse than any of my old tops. They all had some kind of issue. However the SOT is just too easy to operate. I have added Teflon tape on the rear windows and stopped all squeaks. I also added Spiderweb shade to block the sun rays as they made one just for the SOT. Easy to install as well.

If I had to do it all over again I would still go for the SOT. I do know once the factory warranty is nearly over I will probably buy an extended warranty just to be on the safe side in case anything does go wrong with the top.

Hopefully I do not run into any major issues with the top, but so far it fits my life style perfectly.

Ken~

I've got almost 43000km on my JLUS and I've had very little to complain about the roof. It's fantastic! Long day at work, get out, hit the button and roll down the windows. Ear to Ear grin. The only time I've had it leak was at the front seal after days of heavy rain. Turns out there was some leaf debris in the seal from the last trail run I had missed.

In comparison, when the drain holes on my Patriot or PT Cruiser plugged up, the sunroof leaked into the cabin like crazy. The roof was one of the selling points for me.

A (very few) people have had issues that couldn't be resolved.

Today was a perfect example of why I love the SOT. Running around town with the top open. Rain is coming, you could see the dark clouds thickening.

Stopped to drop off e-waste and as clearing out the back end finished the skies opened up. 10 seconds later as I’m driving out the roof was closed. I got wetter from the rain gutter.

Questionably functioning rain gutters on any vehicle is a straight up legitimate gripe. Seems like they should have these things figured out by now :movember:

Seriously, they just had to extend them an inch or two more. I need to look at mine again. I suspect having the folding window might be part of the reason they run short.

I bought mine from spiderwebshade.com. It’s easy to install and is well worth the couple hundred dollars it costs.
