I’ve used my cheap Badland 12000 ZXR for a number of severe pulls (pulling stumps and entire trees out of the ground, severely stuck large vehicles, etc.). It is holding up well.
A suggestion for winches with control boxes that can be dismounted. I repositioned the control box high on top of my bull bar, and pulled the four screws to open the box. I hit the contacts with protectant, then put a bead of silicone gasket sealer around the top and screwed the box back together.
I don’t use a winch cover. The control box is one of the most vulnerable components for water intrusion. Mounting it higher and sealing the box mitigates that risk.
Hopefully I didn’t just jinx myself! ?
